Please read if you're considering moving here!
Not exaggerating when I say this has to be one of the worst decisions I have made moving here. Inhumane living conditions. We moved in in December and immediately raised huge concerns about the conditions of the property and building as a whole.
Every flat in the building has freezing cold aluminium window frames with large gaps in the frames. Please see just a few screenshots taken from the building group chat to illustrate the issue, there are hundreds more. I really question the authenticity of any review with even slightly positive sentiment on here.
Bills are sky high because you have to have the tiny fan heaters they have fitted on the walls, plus space heaters dotted around the room on night and day just to stay at a luke warm temperature, even then you can feel the breeze through the windows, floors are freezing etc.
We currently have every window taped shut, 4 heaters in any room we are in, multiple layers on, 1 room is completley unusable, dread getting out of bed in a morning, cant be in the flat during the day, all for the highest price rent you will find of a property the same size in Sheffield.
The only restbite you get from the cold is in the residents lounge downstairs, which was a selling point to us for coworking space. But here you'll be greeted with the constant sound of dripping, damp spots etc as the building as lots of leaks which apparently can only be fixed if they rip up all the street outside.
Issues we're brought to management attention on day 1, two of the most difficult months later and the most they have done is provide a roll of tape to tape up our windows, ignore emails, provide no real answers or timeline on when they plan to resolve things. This is feedback echoed by everyone that lives here.
I could go on and on. But in short, DON'T MOVE...
Read moreThe flats are newly renovated to a good standard. However, the windows are in a really poor condition making it impossible to heat the place in the winter, and ultimately making it unlivable during that time. All residents of the building reported this multiple times and nothing happened except countless inspections without any action. The building manager - Martin, is a nice guy, who made my stay there a bit more palatable. However, the company itself (Centrick) is very corporate and quite frankly absolutely soulless, they'll take each and every opportunity to bleed you completely dry, until the very last drop to the point of actual harassment, with zero consideration of you as a human-being. Overall, my worst renting experience so far and I wouldn't recommend living there. Getting your deposit back is also a nightmare, they take ages, need constant chasing and try to play dumb or they're simply incompetent, it's hard to tell. It's a truly exhausting and...
Read moreWe’ve been staying at Iron Yard for almost a year and overall I’d recommend this place if you look for a furnished apartment in the city center. The furniture and bathroom is modern and in a good condition, spacious kitchen with dishwasher and plenty of space . There is a gym and lounge on the ground floor too. The biggest advantage is having staff onsite (Martin) who can help with any sort of issues you may encounter during your stay. In many cases , Martin has been responding to the requests raised by tenants outside of his working hrs to ensure people feel supported. The reason why I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is because the apartment was quite cold so our energy bills during winter period were...
