Our recent visit to this indoor playground was extremely disappointing and upsetting. My daughter fell and cut her chin during our time there, and the way the situation was handled — or rather, not handled — raises serious concerns about the facility’s commitment to child safety.
Firstly, the playground was severely overcrowded. There were far too many children allowed in at once, making it nearly impossible for anyone to play safely. It was obvious that the staff were overwhelmed, and it felt like the priority was profit over safety. No one appeared to be monitoring whether the capacity was safe or whether the play areas were being used appropriately.
After the incident, I asked to review the CCTV footage to understand exactly what happened and to see whether safety protocols had been followed. I was met with complete refusal and a lack of transparency — no explanation, no follow-up, and certainly no accountability.
What’s worse is that no member of staff came over to check on my daughter or even asked how she was doing after she was injured. It was left entirely to us to assess her injury and manage the situation on our own with very minimal first aid support.
There was no supervision of the play zones, no checks to ensure rules were being followed, and no clear procedures in place to handle injuries or incidents. The staff seemed stressed and overstretched, and this clearly impacted their ability to maintain even a basic level of safety and care.
For a facility that is supposed to be safe and enjoyable for children, this is simply unacceptable. I left feeling shaken and deeply disappointed. I would strongly advise other parents to think twice before visiting — there are safer and more responsibly run...
Read moreMy niece had her party here today. It was extremely busy which I know on a weekend can’t be helped but the organisation was terrible. Very small area for the parents to sit, everyone basically sitting on top of each other. Was told we won’t be refunded for the children that didn’t turn up even though on the phone they told us we only pay for the children that turn up. The food was pathetic for what you pay. No party bags provided even though was told they would be. They did not inform us of this until the end! Not sure what the £250 was spent on tbf. The party host did her best and was so good with the kids but they need better organisation it just felt so stressful and not enjoyable.
Toilets were disgusting, urine all on floor and on toilet seats. Toilet role all on floor and kids ruin riot in and out. Iv seen cleaner public toilets. To say covid is still around it was not very hygienic and I’m thankful my daughter is still in nappies as I definitely would not want her to use those toilets.
My biggest hate was the under 2 area. I took my 1 year old in with her cousins whom was 1 and 11 months, it was not enjoyable as the older kids was constantly coming in running riot. My daughter was pulled down the steps twice by a 5 year old!!! Why this isn’t being monitored I don’t know! Put me off wanting to let my daughter play in there as it wasn’t safe like it should be for the babies! Constantly on edge.
And for the staff, yes I know it’s stressful when it’s busy but smile a little more especially those serving in the cafe.
It’s a shame really as the play area is massive and the kids seem...
Read moreMy family and I have visited Monkey Bizness on a number of occasions. It is one of the best play centres in Sheffield by far, the play frame allows for me to enter with my child if needed, the staff are always friendly and welcoming too. We have been greeted with a smile on every occasion.
The food has always been served without much of a wait and has been delicious. I feel that the café is very fairly priced with a variety of options to choose from.
There is ample parking for the venue and we were able to access the centre via the lift when we had the pram. I like that there are both stairs and a lift to accommodate everyone. We have also on occasion used the tram to get here, it's great knowing we have a variety of ways to get here depending on the situation.
I feel assured that my son who has ASD is safe here, the play frame is large and he had a choice of different areas he can go to. Also, he cannot get out of the centre as there is a member of staff on reception at all times. This provides me with peace of mind.
Credit to both management and staff for effectively running this play centre at the highest level and providing a safe, clean and enjoyable place for our children to...
