It's very, very rare that I don't leave a tip of at least 10%. Today, here, I didn't leave a dime. The food was fine, but the service, though pleasant enough, was lacking in timeliness and attention. When we arrived, we told our waitress that we had a 20% discount voucher from our cinema ticket. All ok. When we came to order, one of the items on the menu had been discontinued, but hadn't been taken off yet. Ok, fine. Starter arrives, and about 10 mins after finishing, the main courses came, without any new cutlery to account for what was used with the starters. These were all ready together, but the 2 adult mains were brought out first, leaving the kid sat with an empty placemat until his was brought afterwards. Sure, it wasn't a long wait by any means, but the childrens' meals should always come before the adults. After finishing, we waited for 10 minutes, and there was no sign of our plates being taken. I spent the next 10 minutes waving, at staff who seemed determined to look in any direction but ours, before losing patience and going to the staff station to ask for the child's dessert and the bill. These came promptly, but the bill didn't include the discount mentioned earlier. So it got sent back and we waited some more. The Pizza Express app defaulted to a 12.5% service charge, which I consider high as a default. This was removed... If the restaurant had been busy, I would have made concessions to the staff missing us, but it was running at about 25-30% occupied tables, hardly overrunning the staff. Other customers within earshot of our table seemed to be experiencing similar issues, one gent trying to persuade his lady friend that if he didn't get the bill inside the next 10 minutes, he was just going to walk... (He ended up downloading the app, getting the bill and paying through that before his bill was brought)
The food's good, and we probably just got them on an "off day", but, as customers, we didn't feel any incentive to leave anything extra or to come back in the future, when we always have much better experiences at the other venues in...
Read moreDisappointing service!! Waited over 25 minutes for the food, enquired about the wait and why is slow, response came that the kitchen is busy when they were only 6 tables occupied. I think your waitress needs a bit of training, the first word coming out normally is an apology for the wait but we didn’t deserved one. My halloumi were partially burned and our friends pizza came without a special rolling pizza knife that our other friend had, it’s ok we shared it. The manager asked our neighbouring table 5 times as we counted, if their food is alright and if everything is alright, we didn’t deserve this cuortesy at all. It’s a shame that the food was good in compare with the service. Asked if I can use my blue light card discount the answer was no as it’s bank holiday and it doesn’t work on this day, although on my discount it’s specified that it can be used any day Saturday to Thursday not mentioning if the bank holidays are excluded like other discounts I have were is mentioned. If the youngest person of our group didn’t wanted to get a pizza from you guys, the likelihood of us coming to eat here was very small as we usually eat at your neighbours Frankie’s and Benny where their service is top notch always! Unfortunately a tip was not included although I usually give one, this was my fastest number 2 pressed for the gratuity ever. The ice cream was good, but yet again the service, DISAPPOINTING! Worst ever service I ever had! I think was a racial issue as well as everyone at the table was not British apart of the child, and every table at the restaurant was asked if everything is alright and we weren’t! The music was nice and toilets clean. The glasses dirty but maybe they don’t use descaling solutions, the same for cutlery. Maybe is a way too long review but when your wait is close to 30 minutes you have time to observe everything..111£ spend in unpleasant conditions. Next time? Forget it.. From all my stars for this review, consider 1 star ( ⭐ ) only for...
Read moreAbsolutely appalled by my experience at Pizza Express Valley Centertainment. I came in to order a half-and-half takeaway pizza (Spicy Melanznae and Vegan Giardiniera with extra cheese). I showed the staff exactly what I wanted and waited over 30 minutes with my hungry child.
When I finally got the pizza, it wasn’t hot. On opening it, one half was missing key ingredients like olives and had a piece of an artichoke scattered on, while the other had literal clumps of coloured paste thrown on, no grilled aubergine and just some random salad dumped on top. It looked nothing like what I ordered. I don’t see that clumpy pizza on the pizza express menu by the way, (must be something they made up for us 🤷🏻♀️)
When I raised it with staff, the response was simply, “I’m not sure.” No apology, just offered to make another however I’d need to wait forever again or a refund. We left to eat somewhere else which meant waiting again which isn’t fair at all especially with children.
Unfortunately the level of service and care is disgraceful. Customers deserve better especially when children are involved, customers are paying for service and food. It’s unacceptable to apologise for not meeting customer’s expectations and continue to lack standards by what I can see from the reviews. It’s...
