Hi, This is Roxanna’s owner in response to the review my friend Jasmine left and the owners response…. I NEVER called East Orange Animal Hospital to try and have my pet seen since I took her to the VEC. I was reached out to on March 16th at 10:54am by a lady in the office stating they had received information on my dog’s visit to the VEC the night prior. I was urged to take my dog to the office and I informed them WHILE CRYING that I had spent my entire paycheck taking her to the emergency vet. I was told that I should not think about myself, “put your baby’s needs and pain above everything else” and take her to get put down immediately since I could not afford anything else right now and that taking a dog to see a specialist would be very costly. I have not taken my dog to see this vet in a while due to this not being the first negative interaction I have had with the person at the desk making and answering calls. There have been multiple times where I have been made to feel like I am not being a responsible pet owner for not accepting to pay for all the services they have offered to me (most of which my dog doesn’t really need). Respectfully, you do not know my story nor what I have been through with my dog, nor do you know the sacrifices I have made to keep her healthy despite my economic situation. Instead of being so condescending in your response, think about how your words and your so called “customer service” affects someone who is going through a traumatic situation. Stop trying to scold people because you think you know better as a vet what they should be doing and give advice without putting stress on someone who thinks they are about to loose everything they have. A total of 6 hours had passed since I got back from the VEC with my dog who I almost lost. Words cannot describe how angry I am and my entire family and friends with how this situation was handled. I’ll have you know I WAS able to take her a specialist and they informed me she DID NOT in fact have a tumor, and put her on medications; they were kind enough to help me through everything and help me find a solution to keep her ALIVE and helped me find ways to pay for it. Had I taken your advice, I would not have Roxanna with me...
Read moreAfter reading a negative review from JS from 4 months ago on here, I decided I should describe my experience with Dr. Perreault. I have to admit, at first I was a bit taken by the things he was telling me concerning how I was parenting my new little puppy. I really wanted my puppy to sleep with me, eat when he wanted, and I thought: this was the best way to give him the best life possible. I didn't listen at first and of course, there was no progress in training my puppy. I was frustrated. I thought, hmmmm, maybe Dr. Perreault is right, so I thought "let's try to back up and follow Dr. Perreault's lead." I called him to talk though what I could do and he took a good amount of time walking me through the steps I needed to take. I went to feeding only 2 times a day (avoided open feeding) and began to have my puppy sleep in his create at night and when I am out. The first few nights were a little rough, but after only 4 days and nights, my puppy has made a complete shift in behavior. He is now able to sleep and relax in his crate, has been doing all of his business outside, and is nicely walking on a leash outside. HE IS A MUCH HAPPIER DOG NOW!! Through all of this, Dr. Perreault, on his own accord, personally called me several times to check in to see how things were going. He didn't need to do that, but he apparently really cared. The biggest things I've learned is that dogs like structure, they want a boss so they don't have to be, and they are not babies/do not think like babies. I owe Dr. Perreault and his staff a great deal of gratitude for the time they have given to me and my new puppy. We are both so much happier. My advice: Don't take this his advice personally and feel like you are being attacked and are being told you are a bad doggy parent. That is not what he is saying. We, the owners, need to be trained, just as our puppies do. (maybe even more-so than the dogs!) He is good at what he does and wants the best for you and your puppy. I am speaking from experience. It works and I highly recommend you take his advice! Thank you...
Read moreBefore choosing to go to this vet I was going to a low-cost clinic, where the doctor called my 3 month old kitten feisty after she was understandably uncomfortable with him taking her temperature and giving her vaccines. At East Orange, the doctor and technicians saw all the great things that I see in my cat and went on and on about how adorable she is! The doctors and technicians at East Orange will see your animal through your eyes and for all the joy they bring to our homes.
The doctors and technicians made my visit super easy from the moment I walked in. The lovely women at the front desk provided me with a sheet of an estimate cost and had everything broken down. Though this vet is more on the pricey side, I truly believe that you get what you pay for. If you want a cheaper cost, expect to go to a clinic that is filthy and unprofessional and only comments on your animals weaknesses. The low-cost clinic I was going to was filthy, if you wiped a napkin on the examination table it was covered in dirt and dust. Additionally, at the low-cost clinic the visits were always very frustrating for me and I'd leave with my hand clawed. They made me hold down my cat when they gave her her vaccinations, and I had no idea at the time how to properly hold her down.
At East Orange, you don't have to worry about any of these things. The doctors and technicians made my kitten as comfortable as possible when giving her vaccinations and such. The doctor took the time to answer all of my questions and went into specific detail about possible solutions. He provided me examples seen in case studies and is obviously very knowledgeable about animals.
Oh yeah, I made an appointment and after my initial paperwork I was seen within 5 minutes or less. At the low-cost clinic, I waited at least 45 minutes, even when I had an appointment.
I have no worries about bringing my kitten back to East Orange for her spay surgery, and I fully know and trust that they will take excellent care of her.
