I recently did the 7-day trial with pretty high expectations based on the marketing efforts of the company. While I didn’t think it was a bad gym, I was comparing it on the level of Defined Fitness and it took me a little while to realize that it’s really more of a competitor with Planet Fitness in a lot of ways.
Some of the equipment is really nice, but some of the equipment is sub-par and already breaking down/malfunctioning. The locker rooms are really nice, but super-small and crowded. The design makes it even more challenging because there is space to sit right in front of the lockers and people inherently get in the way while you’re trying to get your stuff out.
I personally like the free weights mostly and at first glance, I thought there was a lot more space than there really is - the gym is big but it’s spread too thin. If you look at it as a collection of areas (pool, group classes, circuit training, free weights, cardio, amenities), you’ll notice that some of the areas are practically unused while other areas are crammed full of people. Overall, I think this gym tries to be too many things for too many people.
Next, the massage chairs were pretty cool and I was excited to try them, but I felt like they were more of a novelty/gimmick than anything else. Fun to try but I wouldn’t use them on any sort of a regular basis myself.
I didn’t try the theater/treadmill room, but I really like the idea. The setup seems nice and functional.
Almost all of the staff were really nice with the exception of one person who is a manager and was just unnecessarily unfriendly. Strangely enough, he mentioned that he worked for Defined Fitness before and I’ve never ran into anyone there that was as unpleasant as he was in the 5 years I’ve been going there.
Finally, I’m not a big fan of the pricing model - the TOTAL fees are still fair, but you have to do some calculations to figure out what you’ll really be paying on a monthly basis. Factor in the monthly fee + sign up + yearly fee. It’s not difficult, but it’s more complicated than it needs to be.
Compared to PF, I would say it’s a bit nicer, but mere expensive. Compared to DF, I would say not as nice, but less expensive (depending on what package you go with). I’m happy to have more businesses in ABQ, so I hope people sign up as it’s a good...
Read moreMy partner and I have been proud members of the Chuze Fitness community for about six months now, and our experience at this location has been consistently excellent. The staff here are attentive, welcoming, and clearly committed to creating a positive atmosphere. However, one team member in particular has consistently gone above and beyond: Logan.
From our earliest visits, Logan stood out—not just for his professionalism, but for the genuine enthusiasm he brings to every interaction. Without fail, he greets us warmly when we arrive and always sends us off with a kind word when we leave. His consistent positivity and attentiveness truly elevate the Chuze experience.
What really set Logan apart, though, was a recent situation that went far beyond typical customer service. While working out, my partner and I discovered we had a flat tire. We attempted to change it ourselves but couldn’t loosen a few of the lug nuts. With limited options, we returned to the front desk for help, and Logan immediately offered his assistance without hesitation.
What followed was nothing short of extraordinary: Logan physically lifted the car multiple times in the New Mexico heat to loosen the bolts—doing so with a great attitude and determination the entire time. His willingness to step in, get his hands dirty, and solve a tough situation for us speaks volumes about his character and work ethic.
In every way, Logan embodies the values Chuze promotes: helpfulness, positivity, and going the extra mile for members. It’s rare to find someone with such natural leadership qualities, and I sincerely believe he deserves recognition for the impact he has—not just on us, but undoubtedly on many others. Thank you again, Logan. You made a lasting impression on us, and we’re truly grateful.
If anyone at Chuze leadership reads this: please don’t overlook the value that Logan brings to your team. He’s more than an outstanding employee—he’s management material. I hope this review helps move the needle toward the recognition he has clearly earned.
Logan, I hope you are able to read this message and truly know how much you helped me and my partner out that night. Please know we sincerely mean every word in this review, again, thank you so much...
Read moreI appreciate the gym's affordability, but I have encountered several issues that make me feel I’m not getting the full value of the Plus membership I signed up for:
The massage chairs are often out of order, which is disappointing since they’re a key feature of the upgraded membership. While my membership allows me to bring a guest, I was surprised to learn that guests are restricted from using amenities like the pool and other facilities. This limitation was not made clear upfront. Many workout machines are either broken or in need of maintenance. For example, some ellipticals make loud grinding and binding noises, which feel unsafe and give the impression they could fail while in use. I initially joined because I liked the workout circuit concept. Unfortunately, there’s no enforcement of the time limits on each machine, making the circuit frustratingly difficult to use as intended. I opted for a month-to-month payment plan when signing up, but during the final step, I was only presented with the option for an annual membership. This felt misleading, as it was not what I intended to commit to. Some staff members are unhelpful and dismissive. For instance, when I first visited, the gym was not busy, but the front desk staff seemed uninterested. When I asked for a tour, the person reluctantly brought me to the middle of the gym, said “here,” and didn’t offer further assistance. I had to specifically ask about amenities like the pool, massage chairs, and class locations, which made for a poor first impression.
I hope these concerns can be addressed to improve the overall experience...
