Ivan Smith Furniture — Attraction in Alexandria

We previously had a positive experience with our furniture purchase a few months ago, which led us to return for an additional purchase this past weekend. However, we were disappointed with the lack of customer service we received in Becky's absence. The elderly salesperson informed us that he was busy with another customer but then remained near the entrance, greeting others while we stood with unanswered questions. Kevin eventually stepped in to assist after witnessing the situation, but by that point, we were frustrated with the initial experience, and we left. Still interested in purchasing, we later called when Becky was available. She apologized for the situation, and I requested the total cost of the furniture, as we planned to return on Monday to purchase. The guesstimate that she "calculated" was $1,400 higher than the actual total. Due to these concerns, we ultimately chose to complete our purchase on Saturday at a different location where we felt our business was valued. Customer service department for scheduling mattress delivery was rude. I was aware upon buying the mattress that the delivery would be delayed due to back order from the mattress company. However, after waiting 6 weeks (as told originally) I called on a Tuesday to determine a delivery date. Was told the computer systems were down and to call back the next day. Okay, no problem...that is not the sales/customer service person fault. The next day I call to get a delivery date and the woman who answered the phone was rude. Told me they had the mattress in the warehouse and it would be delivered the following Thursday. I requested to know if it would be morning or afternoon, as I work for a living and would have to make adjustments to my schedule to be home. She could or would not tell me approximate times (morning time frame or afternoon time frame). I could continue this review, but am out of characters. Out experience from the time we walked in the door til we left after the purchase was complete went very smoothly. Our salesman,, Mr. Harvey, was eager to assist us find the perfect recliner love seat. He walked with us and explained the advantages and disadvantages of each piece of furniture we asked about. They had several pieces of furniture made by different companies to choose from and Mr Harvey explained each one to us in detail. Once we decided the one we wanted, we chose furniture made by Home stretch becuse it is made with actual plywood abd not particle board and they are made in the USA, the paperwork went very quickly and we were out the door with a date of two daya later for the furniture to be delivered. I was not expecting to find what i was looking for on my first day furniture shopping! Thank you Ivan Smith and Mr Harvey for a great furniture finding/purchasing experience.
