Opplemans Trading & Exchange Co. — Attraction in Allen Park

10000/10000 experience no exaggeration what so ever. Times have been slightly stressful lately and I unfortunately needed extra bill money so I gave Opplemans a phone call in hopes they could help me out. The energy over the phone with the immediate response was such a humble/pleasant interaction that brought comfort to my anxiety. Upon arriving I was met with a friendly greeting, as I trotted in with a painting that’s half my size in height lol The gentleman’s name is “Will”, we spoke for just a few moments, he made me feel welcomed & proceeded to like to know roughly what I would like to do with the Artwork today, I gave my response & to the major surprise, I was not instantly low balled or given some story of how easy or hard it would be to sell (if they needed to sell it), heck he didn’t shoot down what I asked for nor did I at all feel as if he were going to attempt to drain the bargain, he did his research & confronted me with facts, and we came to a mutual median with him being generous enough to help me out by offering 20$ more than he told me originally after seeing that I truly needed the help. After speaking for a few minutes Will could tell by my energy that I genuinely did not want to sell the artwork ( I was truthfully humbled after expecting to be embarrassed like I was by even calling for some type of pawn/loan as a man trying to support his family). Once the deal was 100% complete I hung around for roughly ten minutes captivated by several specific small conversations that were so spot on with what I was stressing about that it ended up being heart felt advice. It truly was like god put these words on Will’s mind to speak them to me and prepare me for the news later in the evening… ( I apologize for not getting to this earlier, I was blindsided by something last night I am very sorry again, I felt the need to post this as soon as I left but to be honest I feel there’s a reason god had me wait until this morning so I can really see that it was him putting those words on Will’s heart to say to me.) I cannot thank you enough Will, you never know what someone is truly going through even the things that have not spoken on, I appreciate the generosity, and cannot express how proud of you I am for how far you have come as a man especially these past 10 years, I admire your story & will forever be humbled god...

I really enjoyed going to this shop. The first time I went I sold a firearm and I feel I got a great price. The next two times I went, I sold jewelry (gold and silver). I was also very happy with the service at those times. But.. The last 2 times I have been in I have felt a bit scammed. I had just went in today and took a rather decent amount of jewelry (gold and silver). They decided they would by some of each but only offered me $40 for everything. I took the money and got back the jewelry they didn't want. Well when arriving home and checking what jewelry they had gave me back, I realized they kept more then they made it seem. I feel taken advantage of. I really feel taken advanrage of after today. I understand a store has to make money. But I don't appreciate being told they are buying for silver value to melt down and then the next time I go in, I see 3 of my former rings for sale in their display for much much much more then silver melt price. Just really felt like I could trust this company and after today i won't be returning. I have sold a lot of good jewelry there and am really disappointed over my visit today.... Be careful if you think you can fully trust Thier transactions. I feel they had started to take advantage of my trust in...

EDIT 18OCTOBER2023....THE STORE RESPONDS TO MY REVIEW 9 YEARS LATE....THAT SHOULD BE ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE STORE.

All of the gentlemen in the store were less then helpful. We had called and set up a meeting time for us to sell him some electronic items and discussed prices and items prior to making drive to his location. Upon meeting at the retail store he came to our vehicle to see the items. After his quick look, he wanted to do his own research and returned to the store......where he proceeded to help, and subsequently purchase an item from a customer that walked in just behind him. After waiting for the store owner to finish the new deal with the new customer he returned to assisting me. He had originally quoted us $20 for a brand new, never been open, in a factory sealed boxed item, as we stood before him, his new offer was $2.00. After bartering and questioning his ethics, he doubled his offer to $4.00.
