I loved this park when i was a kid. I actually lived in the big house across from the duck pond. My brother and i had so many great memories of trying to sell acorns to the people walking by, feeding the squirrels, chipmunks and blue jays right from our hands, the family of foxes that lived under the statue and meeting all the wonderful people of Allentown who came there. I havent been there since i was 8 and im now 43 and i so love looking at all the new pics people post. It just brings a huge smile to my face and it gives new one to show my friends here in Phoenix, Az just how beautiful Allentown is. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has posted pics or to whom has visited my childhood home. I have learned that in life not all things stay the way you remember them, times change, people change, but looking at everyone's photos makes me see that is not always true. Trexler Memorial Park will always be a little slice of heaven here on Earth for me and I'd like to thank you all for keeping it just the same, all these years later. Please be safe, continue to love one another and always keep your...
Read moreMy father use to live across the street, in apartments, when I was a kid. Every Sunday, we would always take a walk around the park, along with my older sister. As I became older, I took upon myself to go there and explore things myself. my favorite thing to do there is go at a time when there are not to many people and feed the birds. I usually can have 1-2 eat out of my hand. I always sanatize then wash when I get to a sink afterwards. I have brought all 3 of my children here through out the years and this is definitly one place you are able to destress at. You can sit and watch the ducks, you can walk, run, ride your bike, picinik, sit and talk, sit and read a book, or just enjoy yur surroundings. Just check on which days your able to take a bike, roller skates, kids power wheels etc..... P.S. Your not a loud to feed the ducks ( I may or may not listen...
Read moreWide walking trails through variety of terrains. Large lake full of geese. Picturesque, but watch out for tons of geese poop, a definite drawback. Small hills to climb, from which you're rewarded for your efforts by a lovely view of the park below. On the weekends, it becomes crowded with hikers, strollers, families enjoying picnics, racers, bikers, dogs, etc. It's much more fun during times of relative quiet. There are stations with special, thick bags with which you curb your dog, nearly eliminating dog poop accidents. Parking lots are small; but, you can park along city streets. Public bathrooms are a wonderful addition to your experience. Beds of daffodils, tulips, and more are carefully tended, as are the lawns and trails: less litter and more natural beauty. Nice place to...
