Where to begin...
It's a public pool and a very clean pool. They take care of the pool here. Lifeguards are rock stars, absolutely. Give these kids a raise. They are the most attentive lifeguards I've ever witnessed! Always alert, always telling kids "no" when kids are doing stupid things, blowing their whistles at dangerous events and kids or the occasional adults doing stupid things... Parents of these lifeguards take note; Coastie veteran here and your son's/daughters are exactly the perfect fit for OCS Coast Guard! These kids lifeguarding need to be paid $30 an hour with the absolute crap (figuratively and non figuratively speaking) they deal with. These lifeguards pay attention, are alert, respectful and nice.
On the multiple visits this summer I have witnessed the lifeguards coming to rescue and aid a little boy struggling in the 12ft deep pool with diving board. The lifeguards on duty immediately responded and helped a small child in desperate need of help. It was an all hands on deck maneuver. I was impressed by the response. Fast, quick, alert! Always ready, Semper Paratus!
On another trip I witnessed the guards become increasingly tolerant of punks doing flips off the diving boards. They shut this down quick and I applaud them for doing so. I was in the 7-8ft pool and witnessed a grown ass man doing flips off the high dive and nearly scathing himself on the board. The lifeguards should not have to deal with such lunacy, so kudos to them for telling people "no flips" before it becomes out of hand.
Third trip here; some kid that should have known better, pooped in the pool. We were about to leave anyway, and it was a bummer that the leisure pool was shut down for those last "2-3 trips down the slide before we have to go" but the immediate response and call to action of the guards was impressive. They got people out quickly and cleaned up the situation immediately.
Today we went and they were short staffed with guards. I'm not an Alpharetta resident, so our family pays full price to get in. They are short of lifeguards and keep either the leisure pool open or the competition pool open...we managed, but the whole situation sucked. Please put a sign up at the desk letting people know the pool is half open. It's very disingenuous allowing people to walk through, not knowing they will not get the full experience.
Please Alpharetta, pay your lifeguards more so they will show up to work. These kids are great and they are doing a fantastic job. It sucks that being understaffed is a cause for one of the pools being closed, when there are so many families there to swim!
Dressing/ bathrooms clean. Please fix the gray water/drainage issue in the women's bathroom. Gray water should not be backing up! Clean out the hairballs and snake the drains to keep these areas clean.
The snack shack prices are outrageous. A ring pop should not be over $2. Seriously?! The last pack of crackers we bought were expired. Please take note of Cherokee County aquatic center pricing on snacks. We're all out here just surviving and our Cheetos snacks are ringing up $3.50 a bag. Do better. We should not have to put our snacks at the community pool on credit!
I love this pool! I love this community! Take care of this...
Read moreAs much as I would like to give this pool a nice review, 2 stars is the most I can grant in good conscience. The facility was lovely, but the staff starkly contrasted that. My friends and I arrived and got onto the diving board (which had no rule placard posted) at which point we tried to move the fulcrum. The life guard on duty immediately became extremely snappy and rude, yelling at us not to move it as if we were somehow supposed to know that it wasn’t allowed. Upon moving it back to its original position and walking to the end of the board, she once again condescendingly barked that we were not allowed to jump backwards off of the board. After following both of her instructions quickly and without protest, we continued to swim and enjoy the pool. About 20 minutes later, she apparently decided to inform the head guard that we were supposedly ignoring her orders and causing problem, causing him to threaten to throw us out if we didn’t “improve our behavior.” The facility would have been quite enjoyable had the staff been kinder. A simple “I’m sorry, yall aren’t allowed to do that” would have sufficed. We will not be returning...
Read moreThe pool at Wills park is amazing! There is a little line right at opening time because the front desk has to check every person that comes in. It is $10 per person if you do not live in Alpharetta. And $5 per person if you do live in Alpharetta. It is absolutely awesome for your kids! There is a large splash pad for littles and another splash pad that has 1 foot of water for toddlers. That area is amazing for non-swimmers.
Then there’s a huge yellow water slide with a lifeguard up top. Speaking of lifeguards- they are everywhere! For 10 minutes at the end of every hour, they have “adult only “swim. This allows most of the lifeguards to have a break. I highly recommend checking this pool out for a day!
There are plenty of tables under shade. Plenty of chairs all around. So if you’re someone who wants to go get in the shade, there is plenty of places for you to go get shade and not stay in the sun all day.
They have restrooms, both...
