The Amarillo Botanical Gardens is actually quite beautiful. When you come to a mid-size town like Amarillo the first thought isn't usually "I bet they have an amazing Botanical Garden" But we do. I have been to the Botanical Gardens in BC Canada, Denver and a few other places. I am a nature lover and find a peace in being surrounded by living gorgeous plants and flowers. Besides the Botanical Gardens in the other cities being larger Amarillo really stands on it's own two feet. In my opinion the terarium here is better then the one in Denver. They have different classes you can take throughout the year. In the Sumner they have Music in the Garden which was a brilliant concept. You can book the Gardens for a dream come true wedding, they have different events throughout the year. The night of lights at Christmas is by far the one that draws the largest crowd. They have 200,000 and it is the only time it is free to the public. They have Christmas music playing and Santa is there. It is really stunning and we have made it a family tradition. The Botanical Gardens is a place full of surprises. You should check into family and single memberships so that you can go and enjoy the beauty whenever...

Will NEVER do business with the Gardens again. We booked our wedding a year ago, about 3 weeks before our wedding was to take place Katelyn calls to tell us they lost our payment and all receipts because of a change in office management . Then, the day of the wedding there was an issue with the ac and heat, the heat wouldn't turn off and our flowers were dying. They didn't get maintenance out until around 8/9 pm although we told the staff around 11 that morning. The staff was helpful and brought in a fan, but it was still a problem. That night Katelyn, the woman in charge, tried to shut us down at 9 because we had more than 100 people. Well, in our contract we reserved the venue until 1am and for 150 people, and also had paid for the security needed to serve alcohol. She then tried to tell us we would have to pay for their mistakes. We had to take time away from our guests to go to the office and go over our contract that they conveniently lost and could not find. The office is a joke, katelyn has no idea how to run a business, she's unprofessional, rude, on a power trip, and maybe the Gardens should consider making a few more changes...

My preschooler and I stopped by after a doctor's appointment and even though it's still winter and one would think there wouldn't be much to see, there was. The conservatory is beautiful all year round and they've even changed the conservatory pond since the last time I was there and now it's home to the two cutest, most well behaved ducks you've ever had the nursery rhyme vibe fortune to meet 🤗 the torii gate leading to the pagoda and the Koi pond was a hit with us for sure as well. Even more so though than all the wonderful things we could see on our own, Nathan was an absolute gem. We cane across him while he was tending to the (his!) vegetable garden near the back. He was a fountain of knowledge and good vibes. He gave us a tour of what was and what was to come this year in the Veggie gardens and even took us back into the conservatory to show us the edible plants in there that we'd missed on our own before. We'll be back for sure... It was an absolute heckuva delightful weekday morning 🤗...

Visiting the Botanical Garden in Amarillo was a truly beautiful experience. The garden was in full bloom with a dazzling array of flowers that made the entire place come alive. It’s a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll, as you can comfortably explore everything in about two hours. One of the highlights was the tropical flower section, which transported me back home with its vibrant and exotic blooms. However, I was saddened to see a parrot confined in a very small cage; it seemed out of place in such a serene environment. On a brighter note, I was delighted to encounter a golden crested pheasant with its mate and chick, adding a touch of wildlife charm to the garden. The presence of two striking ringed ducks and the serene koi pond in the Japanese-style garden further enhanced the tranquil atmosphere. Given the limited activities in Amarillo, the Botanical Garden was a pleasant surprise. It's a serene oasis worth visiting, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the city’s hustle and bustle.

It's a small garden with a small price ($5) and during my visit in February, nothing was blooming outside. I did really like the Japanese Garden area, it's pretty no matter what. But inside the conservatory building, it's warm and moist and lush and green. There's a waterfall with little ducks (don't let them out!) lots of benches a few things blooming at least. But the real entertainment on my visit was one of the Chinese Pheasants (the really colorful birds), a male, was circling a poor female and showing off his cheek and tail feathers whether she wanted to see them or not. Watching them run around drew what crowd there was. At one point, she hopped up on a ledge that he couldn't get to and they looked like Romeo & Juliet in the balcony scene. Poor girl, she looked a little harassed.

Beautiful, but I was disappointed in how small it was and how quickly I saw everything! I suggest adding plaques and boards with educational information, add a gift shop to increase revenue to expand the park, and add a cafe also to increase revenue. Also lacked incorporation of culture and science. Maybe work with indigenous folks to add value to use of native plants, work with the hospital/university to improve incorporate ecology and historical use of medicinal plants. One more thought, animals need space to thrive. The cages for your birds are definitely too small, which made me sad. Please either rehome them or give them a better space. How would you like to be confined to a small space day after day?
