Lile Art Gallery — Attraction in Amarillo

Lile Art Gallery Route 66 Amarillo, Texas May 1, 2022

Back in May we decided to take a drive to Route 66 Amarillo, Texas from Route 66 Tucumcari, New Mexico. The weather was a little worrisome during our drive but we had one purpose and that was to meeting with Bob Lile Of The Lile Art Gallery. A visit to Amarillo would not be complete without a visit with Bob. As we arrived we knew that this was going to be a great day. We have heard from many people that he was a great guy to meet.

Bob was great and the amount of knowledge and information he has was greatly appreciated. I will say one thing is that he is probably one of the friendliest, most easy going, and mellow people that I have met on our road trips. He was quite accommodating at the gallery

We walked around the Art Gallery for a while. We did stay for a while just looking at the Art. From the beautiful Route 66 Prints, the handmade jewelry, the paintings, sculptures, and rock art there is something for everyone here. We first walked I'm I immediately had my eye on some prints which we later purchased.

Finally meeting Bob was one of the highlights of our Road Trips. After leaving he actually messaged me about a hail storm heading our way. I really appreciated the message.

Traveling north from Dirt City with no cellular yoke upon me, I wandered into the open doors of the Teal fronted treasure trove and met Superhost Crocodile Lile! I was given a "Cook's Tour" of the place. Absorbing all the diverse ways the brains push paint. The works of good strokes gone under paired with living local canvas, the stories that Crocodile Lile tells about the history of each piece and the creator behind it will entertain the most novice of art collectors. Even the affection for Lady, the pup who left the planet, can be felt amongst the place in Lile's own words. And his silver jewelry, handworked with pigments and ore, made me realize that this is not just a place on Route 66, it's a life force! I left with smiles and goosebumps knowing I had just traveled through time with Crocodile Lile!...

With the urbanization of America and the fast paced way of life we have enslaved ourselves to, it's refreshing to find there are still a few places along The Mother Road that still capture the spirit of the road. Crocodile Lile does an excellent job of absorbing you into the Route 66 culture. He's genuinely curious about you, your expectations, and is very determined to get you satisfied.
