MoonWater Arts — Attraction in Anacortes

When I first came across Joanie's Facebook page, I was so impressed with her beautiful pieces. I later found out that she offers classes, and I couldn't wait to sign up with my mom. As we got closer, though, I started to wonder "what was I thinking?! I am not artistic at all" What a silly thing to worry about!

First of all, Joanie is AMAZING! She has a real gift, but is also a remarkably patient teacher. It took about five minutes for me to forget all about the "I'm not an artist" nonsense, and to dive right in. Worried you're too shaky in the hands? My mom was too, and that wasn't a problem either (thanks to Joanie). Worried you won't know how to do this? Yeah, that's the point - to learn something new. Do you like tools? You get to work with lots of them during this process. Love color? You will be overwhelmed by the varieties available to you.

We've never done anything like this before, and we simply cannot wait to do it again!

Moonwater Arts is a unique gift/gallery/workshop offering art pieces from (mostly) local artist of all kinds. It is my "go to" place to find the perfect card, special gift or gift certificate for any occasion. I have also enjoyed taking several fused glass classes with Joanie who I find to be an encouraging teacher, and an absolute delight! Her smile brightens up any room. The workshop area is fully stocked and Joanie helped me feel like I could actually make something beautiful... which I did! I made a fused lantern with 4 glass panels AND I created a piece featuring 5 hearts representative of my 5 grandkids and it hangs in my kitchen window. I LOVE it. I felt completely comfortable in the class and highly recommend Joanie and her classes to anyone. I took the "Christmas in July" ornament class last week and it was absolutely the best thing I've done in ages. Joanie is absolutely dedicated to her students and very knowledgeable, supportive, and you can tell she's a brilliant creative. Joanie had things prepped well so people with no knowledge will still be able to jump in, create multiple items and be super pleased with their creations!
