Sadly... not a good experience. I have been leery of eating here after coming down with being sick a few times after I had eaten here in the past. However, last night was a special occasion. We ate here for a birthday dinner on Friday night. It was a slow night since it was the day after Thanksgiving. There were only a few people in the dining room and bar. (So it was not busy). The service was probably the worst service I have ever witnessed. The waitress was not friendly and spent more time gabbing with the coworkers in the entry way than actually serving the guests!!! (Maybe she’s in the wrong line of work?) Last night was a special occasion- but in this case it was beyond subpar. I feel incredibly bad for my friend who decided this was where she wanted to celebrate her 70th birthday only to have find out we could have had better service at a McDonalds! One of the members of our table arrived about 10 minutes late, all the drinks had been served already- she just wanted a glass of wine, it took over 20 minutes to get that glass of wine! By then all our drinks had been finished. One of our party members had to get up and go ask for her wine only to discover the waitress gabbing with two other girls at the front desk. This was while the wine just sat on the receptionist counter while she was visiting. When she discovered one of our guests asking for the wine she rolled her eyes, as our friend turned away. This was all before she even took the food orders! At this point we had been sitting for 45-60 minutes and finally had a chance to order. As the waitress took our food order she mentioned something undertone about about how “the kitchen wasn’t running smoothly tonight” and my husband and I decided we didn’t want a night of stomach aches or getting sick so we declined to order food- however it took almost another 40ish minutes for the rest of the guests to get dinner. Other members of our group decided they would get better service if they went into the bar and ordered drinks there directly. From the time we sat down at 630-8pm we still hadn’t seen dinner delivered to the table! So glad my husband and I went somewhere to get dinner after this because it was not worth the wait. This place could be really a wonderful restaurant! But sadly it is a...
Read moreWhere do I begin! I made reservations through Priceline at a completely different hotel 70 miles away and they completely botched our reservation. Put us in a Completely different room downgrading from what I paid for, children running everywhere bc there was 5+ Youth soccer teams staying there, the room was dirty and next to the pool so it was insanely noisy. Priceline and the hotel agreed to rebook me else where and I got the pleasure to stay at the Majestic Inn! After driving 7hrs, dealing with the catastrophe at the last hotel and being on the phone with Priceline for over 2hrs trying to get it made right we showed up and was welcomed with the most welcoming and generous hospitality at 11’oclock at night. The gal asked how we were and I of course unloaded after my long day and she was so incredibly apologetic and it wasn’t even her issue. The operations manager Mary, who had been there for 13hrs and had one foot out the door over heard my frustrations from the evening and stepped up and apologized, instantly without hesitation upgraded us to one of their nicest rooms, apologized like she had been the one to cause the error and was genuinely apologetic, and then offered a drink voucher because lord knows I needed that after the night I was having. She then went a step further and gave us her and her mangers card and said if I had any other issues to let her know and that she’d personally look into this issue and take care of it for us! The lengths she took to provide us with incredible customer service absolutely astounded me. This wasn’t her issue to make right, and she had just had a long day herself and was on her way out but yet she took that extra 10 steps and made sure we were provided with exceptional service. I wish I could give Mary and the Mastic inn 10 stars for their customer service, their beautiful rooms and delicious food!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You’ve restored my faith in humanity! Chivalry isn’t dead...
Read moreMy fiancee and I happened to come by the majestic a few months ago after we had spent a longer than anticipated day in the San Juan Islands looking at wedding venues. With it being just past 10pm, we had to make a decision of whether to push through and make the 4 hour drive home that night, or find a place to stay the night.
Figuring we could kill two birds with one stone, we decided to check out the majestic as both a possible venue as well as a place to stay. It ended up being one of the best decisions we made.
The staff was incredibly helpful and pleasant, and were additionally sympathetic to our situation of having a long drive ahead. Thus, they were willing to work around our budget a bit, offered us some cold drinks, and got us a beautiful room in their second building. The next morning, the new staff members were equally helpful as they helped guide us towards beautiful spots for pictures in the area and places to eat.
As for the room itself- it was a nice, clean setting. The beds aren't the most comfortable beds we've been in, but certainly not the worst either. Essentially, I'd give them a 4/5 on the beds as they still allowed for a good nights sleep.
Location-wise, the Majestic provides for an opportunity to travel back in time. The Majestic as well as its surrounding buildings feel like the historic district, yet you are in the heart of Anacortes' downtown and just a walk away from the waterfront.
Overall, the Majestic has solidified itself as a great memory in our minds, and one place we would certainly recommend you stay at or at the very least stop in to see the beautiful history and meet the great people!
PS- To the Management of the Majestic, your staff-member PK is an outstanding advocate for your facility, incredibly helpful and kind, and we likely will return to your establishment because of her alone. She should be commended for...
