Cars of LA — Attraction in Anaheim

I just sold my car to Cars of LA, Inc and had an overall acceptable experience. I am giving the company three stars but I want to be fair and up front state that my transaction was successful. Here is why I'm giving three stars:

The website to fill out for an offer was simple to use and convenient. Jamal got back to me fairly quickly with an offer for my car. An offer which, due to outside urgent matters, I decided to accept eventually. They sent Ahad over to my house to inspect the car and after inspecting the car and no issues with the car, I was offered $6,500 below the offer I was provided over the phone the prior day, pending the car being in the condition stated, which it was and no questions there from Cars of LA. Instead, I was told that between yesterday and the day they arrived to my house, they had done 'additional' research and the car was not worth the price they originally offered.

There was zero market activity from one day to the next or any reasoning provided by Cars of LA folks to at least shed light on why they offered one price but then switched it when in person. This leads me to believe either the process is a scam to get you interested, or it is lack of knowledge and understanding of the market when they originally provided a price to me. I'd like to believe they are not scammers, and it is the latter and not scruples behavior. No matter how you slice it, it was disappointing as I had made arrangements to pick up a new car and needed to offload this car. This put me in a real bind, and I ended up selling the car for $4,500 less than they offered the day before.

Also, the process is far less ideal than selling somewhere like Carmax. You'll need to go to your bank, their bank, go to FedEx, etc...and I also had to fill out a DMV online form myself to document the transfer of the car. This was in addition to a paper form that was filled; however, I've sold cars to Carmax or dealerships and this is all taken care of. It is a total time suck. This is also why I am removing one more star. I am hoping for the best for Cars of LA, Inc, as there is some maturity the business needs to go through. If no one else is giving you a good offer, try these guys, but ask for copies of everything and make sure the price you are offered on the phone is the price you get (of course if there is something wrong with your car that is a different story).

There is also several 5 star rated reviews (no text) as of this writing (4/10/24); however, it looks like at least three of them are their own to prop up the business. I'd discount those as...

We just sold our 2018 Tesla Model 3 to Cars of LA and it was an excellent experience. I wasn't sure about contacting them for an offer because I had never heard of them. But I decided to give them a try and I'm glad I did! They came through with an offer for our car very quickly. I like that they emailed me the offer without having to talk to them on the phone as others required.

After I accepted the offer and set the appointment, communication with Jamal was great. He kept me informed as to when Omar would arrive at our home to inspect the car. Omar was such a a nice guy! He came out in the rain and inspected our car and gave us a final offer.

After we agreed upon a price, we went with Omar to Wells Fargo Bank where we received a cashier's check for the full amount agreed upon for our Tesla. He even drove us to Bank of America so we could deposit the check into our account and then to our home, where we completed the DMV paperwork.

Omar went over and above to make this transaction as easy for us as possible. He even helped me delete our personal information from the Tesla. We received impeccable Customer Service from both Omar and Jamal!

Both my husband and I are very impressed with Cars of LA and will definitely call them when we are sell our cars in the future. They gave us a much better offer than the trade-in Tesla had offered us. And the fact that they came to us and made the transaction so easy puts them head and shoulders above the competition. Shortly after I submitted an online application, they responded within hours with an offer. The next day, they arranged an appointment to evaluate my Model 3 at my work address.

My interaction was with Ahad, who was punctual and exhibited great professionalism. He conducted a thorough review of the car, including a test drive, for about 30 minutes, before presenting a final offer. The offer was reasonable, and once agreed upon, we proceeded to nearby Wells Fargo bank to obtain cashier's checks—one for me and one for the car's final payoff. Ahad promptly mailed the payoff check and provided tracking details to ensure its delivery.

I strongly endorse this business for their straightforward and fair dealings. Their service and pricing are excellent. I suggest considering them before exploring other more prominent car buying services like CarMax...
