UPDATE: So sad to read that this ride will be dismantled in 2026 to make an Avatar world. No offense, but I have no intention of going to the Avatar land (I do not like the movies). I love Monsters Inc., so if its possible, Disney PLEASE just move the Monsters Inc. ride instead of destroying it. Surely there is room somewhere in Disneyland and Adventure park to keep it hopeful.
Original post: First time to Disney California Adventure Park on 6/8/2023. Monsters Inc. is one of our favorite Pixar films. We were pretty excited for the ride. The line was long all day, but we were able to get on the ride an hour before the World of Color - ONE show. For those with allergies to floral perfumes, note that the outdoor waiting line is near some blooming fragrant flowers - it may have been jasmine, but I am not a plant expert. I did not smell the floral scent as much in line as I did approaching and leaving the ride area. Now, back to the line and ride. Before you get into the main building, there is not much to see or do. Unfortunately, the only thing to watch is the lightning pass people showing up and filing right onto the ride before you and how that makes you feel after waiting in line so long. I understand why Disney offers this but the class nature of it will never sit well with me. Inside the building, there were lots of fun things to look at on your way to the ride and I liked the little twists to everyday items to make them appeal to monsters. On the ride, the taxis have a side monitor that announces things going on which is great because you don't pop into and out of scenes at random parts in the speech - you actually get to hear the whole thing and it set up the story perfectly. I loved that idea and frankly think they should do it for the Little Mermaid Ride too because it would really help set up the story for those who never watched the film. Anyway the scenes were fun and right out of the movie. I loved seeing Sully carrying Boo, the trashed Asian style restaurant, the CDA guys, and Rozz (I hope I spelled her name correctly). However, my husband wanted more to look at. It felt too confined and simplistic to him and preferred the large room inside the Little Mermaid ride with all the ocean creatures dancing. Of course I still liked the Peter Pan ride where you fly over London and off to Neverland best. Overall, it is a good ride for all ages. Our wait time was about 35 minutes. I would...

We are already planning a return trip and staying longer so we can actually have some time to relax and just gather as a family. Our recommendation would be to do 1 day at Disneyland, family day, California Adventure, family day, Disneyland, family day and then all the favorites or shows you missed at either park on this last day. For a family of 13, an itinerary(kudos to my daughter in-law who did alot of "homework"to make a plan of action) and although we didn't follow it exactly, it was a huge help especially when it came to obtaining fast passes for the rides and shows. Having the Disney app and paying for a max pass is a plus when there's only a few of you. However, multiply that cost 13x for 3 days...so yes, the fast passes in this instance were more feasible. Here's our fabulous itinerary...maybe it'll inspire you to make one for yourselves! Enjoy the happiest...

Mike Wazowski's pure essence showed me that there is a larger figure that governs us from thy cosmos, and it is he Michael Wazowski. After exiting the ride I realized my polio had been cured. I no longer felt like FDR. This ride is a magnificent piece of history that all people of the world should be legally required to ride. Mike Wazowski was my shimmering light at the end of the tunnel.
