The attraction was fun. My kids loved it. BUT.... the line management for this ride was the worst out of both parks. 1st. Its deceptively long. Half of the line is hidden as it zig zags out of view front the entrance, then you go inside and have a short video experience before being funneled to ANOTHER line. The biggest issue with the line is the way the staff managed it. The single rider lane is meant for SINGLE riders. Instead they'd let in MULTIPLE "single riders" and then only one or two groups from the group line. After a 2+ hour wait and finally getting to the front, we could hear how the line crew was managing the line and letting the single riders inside in masses and only letting 1 or 2 small groups in at a time from the long @$$ group line. Once we were inside the video experience it was clearly obvious that the "single riders" were actually all in groups. Because they let 30 single riders in and the actual ride is after the video and on to another line, the single riders can actually form back into their groups. Which is exactly what the single riders did, which made the wait for the group line ridiculously long. It should have been the other way around like every other ride. If 40 people can be let in at a time. They should let the group line advance and then fill in the the single riders. If they are gonna prioritize the single rider line, they should at least allow genie options for the ride. We spent so much time in line we missed out on 1-2 other rides. Wasn't worth all the wait or a lightning lane purchase. But if the line is a 30-40 min wait, it's...
Read morePros: the tech is interesting. It’s a step beyond Midway Mania.
Cons: the line is “worse than Legoland rides” (my 10 year old said this) and it winds about in the sun. It’s boring, and in one spot they built tall metal walls around a courtyard you stand in. Super hot.
Virtual Queue: they let too many people into the queue and I think we stood in line about 75 minutes after our boarding group was called.
Duration: this ride is short. You get about 5 scenes and then you’re done. It’s clear they tried to make the most of a tiny space, which used to be a bugs life land.
slinging - I had no idea what I was doing and scored the highest in my pod. My son and husband are great at video games and love Marvel. It was weird I outscored them by a lot.
Storyline - spiders. Got it. Lots of spiders. And now they want us to buy the merch of the same spiders. The story is s too simple to be fun and I don’t feel like it really works well within the Marvel universe. It’s so thinly defined and the merch opportunity so obvious that it’s painful.
This ride is not that good. The Marvel fans in my family were not impressed and I’d rate it below Roger rabbit. Which is my least favorite of the Fast Pass rides. I would not be disappointed if you don’t get the virtual queue. I also don’t see how this ride is an anchor for the campus (which is also super small and underwhelming). I’m usually a huge Disney fan but man, this...
Read moreI'm still shocked over the hate of this Disneyland attraction. Yeah, it's the result of an admittedly lazy effort by the Imagineers, I'll give you that. After all, you just ride through a 3D movie with spiders, but there's something really fun to me when I get to "sling" webs with my arms. I sorta see this ride as a way for me to become Spider-Man for a few minutes, and that's pretty exciting to me!
The line is always long here, and you're first taken inside to a holding pen and preshow with a digital projection of Peter Parker. The premise is that it's an open house at Stark Labs, and replicating spiders have mutated and are on the loose. You are sent through the labs to help Spider-Man capture as many of these rogue spiders as you can.
This is a very labor intensive ride, as you have to move your arms back and forth to "sling" webs. It's really cool how the ride digitizes your movements as you trap spiders just like Spider-Man. I take this way too seriously and am highly competitive and as a result, there have been times where I have gotten woozy on the ride. It also moves around a lot and isn't great if you are prone to motion sickness (although this is mostly due to the realistic 3D and not so much the ride vehicle movement). My arms BURN after this too, so it's a good workout!
If you love Spider-Man or have always wanted to BE Spider-Man, you're going to...
