It would be a 2 star MOTEL if it weren't for being across the street from Disneyland. We stayed in room 214 and from looking at the past reviews, our unfortunate experiences were there same as others. The location is the only thing that keeps this motel in business. This is a poorly managed motel. The front desk staff who answer the phones need training. I called two days before our stay to check on our reservation. A man answered the phone (did not say his name) I responded "good morning. How are you?" there was a pause followed by " um okay can I help you?" I said I was calling to check on my reservation. Due to his annoyed tone I decided to call back the next day. I called the day before to discuss the notes I made with the reservation. The second person who answered the phone was better. In my notes specifically asked for a quiet location, higher floor (so we wouldn't have noise above us) and mentioned allergies. When I spoke to the attendant, I had them look up the notes to make sure we'd have a smooth check in and nice stay. We were put on the second floor and on the side with the dumpster. Our room like others had mentioned in other reviews was lit up all hrs of the night as if it were afternoon out 24 hrs a day. The shutters and missing weather stripping around the door let in so much light. The second night we had someone running and jumping above us and of corse we were woken up by the dump truck. The truck comes daily..woken up by the dump truck daily. I had to stay behind while my family went to Disneyland to try to catch up on sleep because of the noisy bright room. I went to speak to the manager which wasn't worth my time. She said that the second floor was the only floor with our room type. That should have been mentioned when I called to make sure. If that was known I would have cancelled and found another place to stay. As for the dump truck noise, she said we were as far from it as possible but we were very close by. When we came back from Disney the third night (after speaking to the manager) our room smelled heavily like weed. When I checked out I noticed the same manager. I had mentioned before, that due to miss representation of information given when I booked the reservation, and when I called in to verify that there should be some compensation. I made sure to speak with her about the issues off to the side so I would not cause concern, or discomfort for others, also to be respectful to her. I would have been fine with even half credit for parking, anything besides a blow off. When I checked out I was basically told tough. There wasn't even an apology for poor service. I asked to speak to another manager or owner and she said that she's the only one I'd be speaking to. She refused to give my any contact info. Again like the previous day I was quiet and calm and respectful, as was she. She was very dismissive. As with other reviews the room is lit at all hrs. The sinks had drainage problems. Other issues to add from our experience, is the room is dark when you want light, the shower head is at chest level for someone 5ft 10, and bathroom fan is so loud. If the light is on the fan is so loud. It's like using the bathroom in an airplane lavatory. The shower curtain was torn, the carpet felt like walking on a sponge, the room was dated, banged up furniture, smudges on the walls that were probably painted 10yrs ago. The breakfast is very limited to packaged pastry cereal ect. The bed was okay and the pillows were firm and decent. Neither of the tv remotes worked consistently. The room was as clean as it could be due to the condition of the old carpet, furniture, and dirty walls. If you don't have a hard time sleeping, not expecting much more than a place to crash your review may be better than ours. When the manager told me that she was the only one I would be talking to and that she did not have someone above her, I responded that I would be talking to someone. I'm talking to thousands of people reading my long...
Read moreI was traveling with my Sister and my Mom who is in a wheelchair. We stayed in a "handicapped accessible" 2 queen suite. This room was great for our needs. My Mom got a bed and it was low enough that she could easily transfer from her wheelchair to it. My Sister had the other queen in the main bedroom. I was on the sofa bed in the front room.
The sofa bed was quite comfortable and I appreciated that it was already made when we arrived. Being on the walkway side there was some traffic and people noise plus some light that came in. I simply put on eye shield and ear plugs and slept wonderfully all 4 nights.
In the main bedroom, there was a comfy chair for me to sit in and lots of room for all our luggage and Disney souvenirs. The fridge, microwave, and coffee maker were also nice to have available. Especially the first morning as we wanted to get in the Disney line extra early and breakfast did not open until 7:00am. The breakfast itself was fine with hard boiled eggs, cheese cubes, toast, pastries, juices, and coffee. Would have been nice if service started at 6:30am.
Our room was super clean with plenty of towels. Beds were comfy and we were all quite content with out stay.
Nevertheless, we had two big issues - both related to the fact the room was "handicapped accessible." First, although the bathroom was very large making it easy for my Mom to get around in a wheelchair and there was grab bars at the toilet for her, it was NOT truly accessible. The shower was over a bathtub with a high step in. My Mom could not do this. To make it accessible it needs to be a wheel-in shower.
Second, our "handicapped accessible" room was on the FIFTH floor. I had put in my reservation note that we wanted a ground floor or low level room so we were surprised to be put on the top floor. On check-in we did ask for a lower room and were told none was available. I'm quite surprised that all "handicapped accessible" rooms are not ground level. What would we have done in case of fire? I doubt my Sister and I could have carried my Mom down five flights of stairs--one or two yes, but not five.
Since luckily there was no fire while we were there, we had a wonderful stay and I do recommend this hotel. I definitely want to stay there again. However, next time, if I'm with my Mom or someone else in a wheelchair, I am going to talk to staff beforehand to see if they have a handicapped room that is actually accessible by being on the...
Read moreProximity to Disneyland was the key to staying here. This is one of the best locations outside of the park. Hands down one of the best, maybe two other hotels get closer. The breakfast was subpar at best but it gets something in your stomach before you go crazy on funnel cake in the park. Main issue was Valet manager creating significant stress for no reason. Front desk should have handled him better and kept him off the phone. Customer service from him was at a zero.
The front desk staff was pleasant. Only wish was that they keep the Valet manager from getting on the phone. I paid for parking and one day there was no parking. So the valet said we can valet it for you, don’t worry. Only issue was my car is a Tesla and I have no key. He solved the problem like a champ and made me feel valued. I would be giving an exceptional review about the valet department of the hotel had the valet manager not royally messed it all up. The next day I get a call while at Disneyland saying my car needs to be moved and the valet manager would like to speak to me. I tell them how the valet the day prior was excellent and really solved the problem of me not having a space to park even though I had paid for parking. The manager gets on the phone and we get disconnected as I was walking into Indiana jones, note to all reception gets iffy in that line. When I get out of line I have a voicemail waiting for me saying my car is subject to being towed. What in the world! I call the hotel, now frustrated, and chat with the front desk and manager along what in the world they’re doing I’m trying to enjoy vacation and you’re telling me you’re going to tow my car when you can provide the paid for service that your valet fixed. This was all orchestrated by hotel/valet staff, had a valet ticket and everything and you’re going to tow my car. Not professional by any means. I’m sitting here trying to enjoy myself at Disneyland freaking out if my car is going to get towed. Not cool at all. Then to top it off after I get off the phone for the third time the valet manager forgets to hang the phone up and I can hear them start talking about me. Overall the valet needs retraining on customer service and the gentleman who fixed the problem should take his job. Let’s try and remember not to create problems...
