Grateful Dreads — Attraction in Ann Arbor

I've been to Grateful Dreads three times total now and I love it there! Sandy is the best to work with. She's so warm, friendly, personable, hardworking, and easy going. You can tell she's passionate about what she does. I have partial dreadlocks, I think around 23 total now (I've had a couple added/moved around the past year), and I love how I feel and look after getting my locks tightened and cleaned up by Sandy. During my last visit, she multitasked me and another client but I think both of us still felt cared for and tended to. I had a longer appointment so it took quite some time. Sandy cut my loose hair (I have lots of layers), trimmed and softened my bangs, lightened my dark hair so now I am mostly blonde (except for the hair closest to my scalp), gave me a few extensions, and wrapped one of my dreads with pretty embroidery floss colors. It was like a huge transformation! Also Sandy is now one of the only people I'll let touch my wild layers! It's now been almost 2 weeks since that last appointment with Sandy and I'm in love with my hair and obviously everything has held up well since I first started going to GD. I try my best to work on and maintain my dreads at home but I struggle with my roots and getting some hard to reach spots, but I truly feel that my visits to this salon have helped strengthen and perfect my locks. I also spend way more time admiring my hair and decorating my dreadlocks now than before. In short, you've gotta give this place a visit. The salon is cute and cozy and there is a very welcoming atmosphere. Sandy's pricing is very fair and she also sells top notch dreadlock products such as Dollylocks and Knotty Boy. I walked into Grateful Dreads 2 weeks ago very excited to have my dreads worked on, and very apprehensive because I did not know who, what, or where I was getting involved with. After reading a couple reviews and looking at the website I decided to choose them based nearly on blind faith. The very moment I walked in I was very happily greeted and felt at home!!! Sandy has created a beautiful work environment with an absolute amazingly proffesional and unbelivevably talented staff. Isabella worked on my hair and very quickly made me feel comfortable in my decision on going with Grateful Dreads. After carefully taking apart and basically starting from new, she transformed my dreads into the dreadlocks I absolutley love and cherish today. I am in love with the transition!!! The five hours she put into my hair felt like 30 minutes due to the soothing environment and wonderfully stimulating conversations had. Great atmosphere, I'm not sure why that other person didnt like their dreadlocks, but my interlocked dreads are amazing. I noticed they said that their dreads got hard ? That's the goal . If your dreads are loose and puffy they either are very new dreads or not done correctly. I love my dreads and will not go anywhere else . As for the price , I see its fair for the work being done and if you look around, it's around the exact same price as other salons . With the interlocked method , it makes it VERY friendly for washing your hair. I have scalp problems with itching and require a wash at least once a week, with other looking methods other than interlock, the dreads will come loose and almost completely out when you wash your hair ... but with interlocking , I'm free to scrub the sh. It out if my scalp and the dreads themselves and the ONLY thing that happens is a little fuzziness. After washing my dreads they remain hard and in place . From the bottom of my heart I wanna say your a great hair artist and your ability to work with many different hair styles to form amazing locks is sweet, love...
