Bao Boys — Restaurant in Ann Arbor

My first experience with Bao boys was eating and ordering from their food truck. The food came out fresh and delicious. I had never tried spam before, so naturally I ordered the bao with spam and the kimchi fried rice with spam. While I won’t go and buy spam on my own, the careful and artistically created dishes were truly an inspiration.

So, I had an idea. I wanted Bao Boys to cater a small birthday party for me. Contacting them was very easy via Instagram and from there the customer service was amazing. Steven thoughtfully planned the menu with me to meet the needs of my guests.

When the order was picked up, everything was packaged separately with the cutest directions for assembling each bao. He even gave me a retired steaming basket (which I’m so grateful for!). I decided to cut the directions for the different bao and make stations for my guests to assemble their own. Because the kimchi fried rice was not on the menu any longer and it was my favorite, Steven taught me how to make it at home and I served it for dinner too!

My guests LOVED the meal from Bao Boys and I equally loved everything about the experience. I recommend eating there while you’re in AA, or ordering from them for your next celebration. You won’t be sorrry! Also - check out the vegan...

I am glad that I have bumped into this place and gave it a shot. It is perfect if you don’t want a big heavy meal, but if your super hungry then buy more food. Bao buns here are always great, soft, fluffy and just the right texture, I have never gotten a bad bun. They have several boa buns that can be picked with their options of meats, masubi, bowls and even fries. Everything is made to order so it will take a little bit of time especially if theres a lot of people here. Ahh, I forgot to mention this isn’t a standard restaurant facility but more like a food truck. But the parking isn’t too bad and it’s free. Everything that I’ve tried so far has been delightful and steaming with flavor. I’m sure you won’t be able to buy just one bun, try them all. They even have a vegetarian option with mushroom and that was pretty good as well. I’m seen this place slightly busy to full on get in line now busy. I think it can be worth the wait and if you want to hang around, there are plenty of seats...

If I could give this restaurant 6 out of 5 stars I would. I visited this place to test out their bao buns. They were so flavourful and reasonably priced. Plus they have a decent amount of filling. Their buns are fluffly and soft. Encouraged by their high quality of food and unique taste, I made an order of 99 bao buns to be catered for a party. The day before the party, my other caterer for other types of food cancelled. The Bao Boys stepped up to the plate and easily added another 66 bao buns to my order. They answered my emails quickly and even called back. When the day came, the order was ready ahead of time and they gave us napkins! I am so used to places giving nothing. It was so easy to pick up the order. They saved my party by accommodating a last minute add on order. Their food was a hit. Everyone loved it. #tasty #musttry...
