Art Things — Attraction in Annapolis

I was having an arguably “bad” day before walking into art things Annapolis. I was unsure and slightly intimidated being a first time art student with very little knowledge but all of that washed away inside. The store is very cute, unique, and had everything I needed on a long list of supplies. The women I met today were beyond warm, welcoming and extremely helpful. They helped me find and carry materials throughout the store, going as far to even suggest different brands to help with my tight budget. These women acted less like salesman with prey, more like long time friends. You get 8 dollars off every 75 dollars spent and any money that doesn’t reach 75 gets rolled over to use on your next purchase. This little art shop is apparently under new ownership; I used to love this business and reviewed it in 2014 under Yelp, but must admit my vast disappointment at their charging $75 for a 3 hour lesson, for which I received no instruction or assistance. The 10 of us brought our own supplies and the instructor - Rob Woods - was more interested in completing his painting and talking to the experts in the class, than sitting with someone like me who was struggling. When I complained, the owner offered another course without charge. Now, humiliated, why would I subject myself to another embarrassment? We are all newcomers to somethings at sometime but this one was unacceptable to me. I’ll get my art supplies online...

I have been purchasing my drafting and design supplies here for years!!! And will continue to do so. From my very first visit , I was hooked. The atmosphere and location of the store is wonderful. The service, knowledge and willingness of everyone there to help is nothing short of amazing!!! They are stocked with all of your art and design needs, and if they don’t have it , they will recommend someone who does, or will try to order it in for you. Art Things , in my opinion, is a hidden treasure of Annapolis, and highly recommend taking the time to visit, even if you are not purchasing art supplies. I could spend hours there...
