Sunday for a very spontaneous group outing we chose Light house bistro aka my new favorite brunch spot. Myself, my partner, his friend and their two children showed up and expected a 45 month wait and was seated in 10 minutes. They also made the accommodations for the stroller we had and sat us at thee perfect table for our party. A ray of sunshine Jessica came over to greet us and take our drink order. I am a self claimed chef and don’t eat out often. Y’all I have never been to any place that let me design my own meal. Every thing I switched dipped and reversed was done. Now let’s get into the taste. If you feeling froggy get the Goat Cheese and fig flat bread, top with smoked salmon, capers, honey and their homemade hot sauce and thank me later. The homemade hot sauce is better than Crystals, Texas Pete’s and Sriracha. Matter of fact I’d put it up against any hot sauce. The mimosas were 5 dollars and made with fresh squeezed juice. Try the Grapefruit juice with a splash of ginger beer (which they let me add). When it came to things they were out of Jessica never said they were out but offered the substitute they had in place for the day which was also amazing. We were the last to leave and over stayed our welcome after they were closed. No one made us feel rushed and not one attitude was felted or noticed. Upon leaving I asked about the history and what all the latters on the walls meant that were labeled “Latter to success”. Found out that it was an old homeless shelter that still had four apartments where men who have been missed placed are allowed to stay for 2 years. They also are a culinary training program. The best part is the part of money you spend there to eat still goes to the local shelter near by. I mean this place gets 5 stars across the board. Great food, great people for the people. Please please please visit and have an amazing brunch at an amazing place with amazing people. Thank you Light House Bistro for light house experience brunch. I will be back to take pictures. I was so impressed and the food was so good I wasn’t even thinking...
Read moreTL;DR Great mission, great service, great food! 10/10 ✨️
I found this place on a whim and fell in love with its mission: "The bottom line for The Light House Social Enterprise is employment for people experiencing homelessness." I work for a nonprofit focused on ending homelessness, so I knew I had to support this restaurant. We need more places like this.
I appreciated the great menu options and that it was affordable (so hard to find these days!). We had fantastic service from the manager, Jonathan, and the food was fantastic (I sadly forgot to take pictures!).
We had the bread pudding french toast: delicious, but note the "bread pudding" part--it's much thicker than normal french toast. I love bread pudding, so I knew I'd love it!
We also had the California scramble and homefries. We haven't had eggs that good in a long time!!! It was so good we ordered a second one 👏
The hostess was also kind and welcoming, and the overall vibe is right up our alley: cute and cozy without being pretentious like so many brunch spots these days. So it makes people feel welcome and comfortable!
Thank you for all you do, Light House Bistro! We'll definitely be recommending it to...
Read moreWe came here for my birthday in July and loved the food, service, background and mission of this restaurant. We visited tonight to celebrate our eldest son's birthday and unfortunately had the complete opposite experience. Last time we made reservations and showed up to an empty restaurant so I figured we probably wouldn't need reservations if we showed up at the same time. We showed up to a mostly empty restaurant but the male host seemed bothered that we didn't call ahead. I explained why and he said that while they looked empty now they were going to get busy very fast. I thought he was going to turn us away but he sat us anyway. Regardless, it was the most unwelcome treatment I ever received at a restaurant which is disappointing since I had been thinking about donating to their cause as well. When we left, there were still a number of empty tables. The food did not taste as good as last time and we asked the waitress which beer did not taste like grapefruit and her suggestion tasted like grapefruit. At least the birthday boy...
