First and foremost, the property photos are not as advertised on the website. The common areas are nice, but the room accommodations were terrible, and the service was extremely poor.
We were placed in a room behind the dining room which was down a hallway next to the kitchen across from the washer/dryer next to where the trash was kept each day. Furthermore, the photos on the website don’t show a room that looks anything like ours and when we inquired with the one and only staff person on-site, we were told our room isn’t listed on the site photos.
This is misleading for a small inn to not show all the rooms available, particularly leaving off the less desirable ones. When we tried to get moved to a new room (as they weren’t sold out according to their misleading website) we were told we’d have to pay an extra $100 per night to move (we were already paying nearly $400 a night so that was simply unacceptable).
As we were next to the kitchen, it was noisy every morning and so much so that they gave us a white noise to help block the noise, which leads us to believe that this is an ongoing issue that others have complained about.
To be quite honest, we were confused why this was even a room they would rent out as there is no way anyone would stay in this room and have a good stay; we are confident that we can’t be the first people to have complained about this room.
At one point the one staff member admitted to us that this was the worst room in the inn. The room was missing curtains, the bathroom was dirty and infested with flies the whole stay. It was poorly lit and poorly furnished (there isn’t even a closet, just a bar on the wall with hangers) so you have to live out of your suitcase. You can confirm this with the photos attached.
In addition to all of this, the advertised daily breakfast was just muffins and orange juice set-out on a counter each morning.
For the steep price they charge, strongly suggest finding another option

Adding to this post based on the inn’s inappropriate and personal attack below. Please note that their reply in no way disputes the fact that this is the room we were put in and that this room is not listed on their site. There have also been other reviews saying this inn has gone downhill under new ownership so this might be why there are so many higher reviews. I encourage you to go to the old Facebook page that shows photos of the breakfasts in particular that the inn offered under the previous owners. Our photos posted in the review are real and unedited. Your hotel was not sold out because your attendant offered to move us to a new room for a higher fee. To attack me on a personal level is not only sad, but pathetic. And also shows what type of establishment you run. I have screenshots of your reply and will repost this review with your comments if you remove them. I will also be reporting your establishment to all services where you are able to be booked for fraud in addition to reporting you to the better business bureau for the below comments as well as the misleading website regarding your...
Read moreHaving received a response from the management of the Flag House Inn, I am adding a few thoughts to my original review seen below.
The Flag House Inn is calling itself a "luxury" property. I am sure that is their aspiration but it was not our experience. There was no one to even open the door at the Inn when we arrived. The reality of our circumstance was that my husband was still healing from open heart surgery. We did not request an upgraded room but there was no way he could have climbed 2 steep flights of stairs. Yes, we were upgraded but in truth we would not have been able to stay at the Inn if this had not been offered. And there was no one else there. Certainly we appreciated this effort, but it was also to the Inn's benefit to have guests. I think any "luxury" Inn would be more than happy to accept a wheelchair and not make it a noteworthy event. The Inn's website says there is off street parking so again, they were only doing what they said they would do. I would expect a luxury inn to make dinner, theater, tour, etc reservations. Again, not noteworthy.
Our experience with "Select Registry" is hardly one of staying at an "antiquated" property Rather they have been consistently warm, welcoming, charmingly decorated, clean, and special.
Despite saying there is 24/7 concierge service, there was no one there to welcome us, there was no one there when they ran out of coffee, and there was no one there when we wanted ice from the empty ice bucket. Breakfast came from another property across the street and our breakfast was 1/2 waffle with 2 strips of bacon. There were no muffins, granola, yogurt, assorted juices, etc that I would expect from a luxury inn.
Finally, when I posted my original review the property owner asked to speak with me. We spent approximately 30 minutes under the guise of his wanting to "learn", with his becoming defensive and chastising me because he wants 5 stars. I changed that original review because I did not want to hurt him.
I will not stay at this property again. Others will and have enjoyed it. That's great. It is a great location and very clean. But this is not my expectation of a luxury property. Especially when economics is trumping hospitality.
Original Review Having stayed at other Select Registry inns and after reading previous reviews of this property, we were expecting to be welcomed into a property with a warm and welcoming vibe. Upon arrival we learned this is no longer a Select Registry inn and that it has been purchased by an “investment” group whose intentions are different than what you might find in a cozy husband/wife managed property. Out of respect for the new owner I will just say that as you read reviews, pay attention to those written after Fall 2022. The location is fantastic. But for us, the fit wasn’t what we...
Read moreTLDR: Appalling customer service; $50 "valet" was actually self park; breakfast overrated; tiny and outdated bathroom.
First the good: the location is great, the bed was comfy, the room was nice.
The bathroom in our suite (Commodore Suite, 3rd floor) was actually two closets turned into a toilet/sink room and shower/sink room. Both were tiny and desperately in need of updates. They didn't fit at all with the quality or pricing of the hotel. The shower pressure was lousy.
We paid $53 for valet parking then were told to self park in the narrow driveway on the side of the hotel. I am not sure how they can charge for a valet service and not actually valet the car?
The biggest problem was the customer service. We had an issue with a very heavy floral scent on the bedding in our room. I called down to ask if they could change the bedding as I am sensitive to perfume, and was lectured for 10 minutes on how there couldn't be a scent because "this is how we launder our sheets etc etc". I kept saying that I understand that there shouldn't be a strong smell, but that there is. The woman kept talking over me, basically telling me I was lying because they "don't use anything scented".
We were finally called back by the owner who agreed to switch out the sheets and all was resolved, but after paying almost $500 for the room, and another $50 for self parking, this left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. (I'm pretty sure the cleaning staff had finished the bed with Febreze anti-wrinkle spray or similar and it absolutely stank; after changing the sheets it was fine.)
The breakfast was OK but portions were small, and they just have one short seating time available for it (9-9:30am and in fact the chef was running late that day so they didn't start until about 9:15am). My husband had the omelette which was literally just a small folded omelette in the middle of the plate - no side, no garnish - and I had the "tartine" which was a single slice of toast with toppings. We had to ask for orange juice which had been offered to one of the tables but not the others.
Such a disappointment of a stay. It has the potential to be a delightful boutique hotel, but instead they seem to be a money grabbing operation, with a disregard for basic customer service. If you're looking for a nice hotel in downtown Annapolis, I would strongly recommend The Graduate...
