Escape Room Wisconsin - Appleton — Attraction in Appleton

I want to preface this review with “this wasn’t our first rodeo”. My husband and I are HUGE escape room enthusiasts. We have done every single room at both ERW locations, all the rooms Encrypted Escape had (RIP) all the ones in Oshkosh, and many in the Dells and other areas of the state. This visit is on the bottom of our list. Everything was fine. But that’s just it…it was just “fine”. Meh. Nothing that would make me want to go back if we weren’t so addicted to Escape Rooms. This was our son’s second time joining us for an Escape Room, and our daughter’s first. Our room master was nice enough, but really didn’t do anything to set the story or make it more immersive. When we were done (we broke out), there was barely any excitement either. We’ve come to appreciate really great room masters who totally get into with you, and love sharing stories and fun things about the room and just overall geek out with you. It was little more than a “hi” and “bye” and almost felt awkward as our energy/excitement was not met. Not a super fun experience for our daughter’s first time. We will be back because it’s close and we want to explore the new NBC room in the fall, but for the cost for a family of 4, it was just meh. We made it out of The Evolution of Games with 12 seconds to spare, and we enjoyed all 59 minutes and 48 seconds of it!

Our team has done about 10 escape rooms together, and this was the consensus favorite among the group. It helped that we were born in the 80s so the games generated a great deal of nostalgia. The puzzles were challenging and engaging and allowed the members of our team to contribute their individual talents. We had a great time working together and independently.

We also cannot speak highly enough about Escape Room Wisconsin and our host for this room - Clinton. He was one of the best hosts that we've interacted with - great introduction, the perfect level of help when we were stuck and asked for assistance, and we celebrated together after the escape. Clinton even made sure that we got a good picture to commemorate the event. We've participated in a few of the rooms here, and they have all been delightful. We feel very fortunate to have such a quality establishment...

Ben and Alex were AWESOME!!!! We had a great time. Two of our group had done an escape room before, and for the other four of us it was our first time. It was so much fun and this is a very cool place! Go and check it out! We didn’t make it all the way through ours and we probably could have asked for more hints, but it only has a ~30% completion rate (Evolution of Games) and we knew that going in. I wasn’t disappointed; it was many of our first time. The game one is good to do with a group, but probably even better if you’ve done an escape room before. Even without making it all the way, it was still a lot of fun!!!! Or you could just ask for a bunch more hints than we did. We wanted to figure out as much as we could on our own.
