We go to this trailhead regularly to get away. It's like a tiny oasis of quiet tucked in the big city. There is a highway running right by it; I've found that the sound of the traffic isn't that bad and the trail leads away from the highway towards the Gold Strike Park and I know that's pretty quiet, too. Great place for dog walking, bike riding, or just hiding out in your car for a bit. Open from sunrise until sunset.
We returned yesterday (10/17/2024) to get away from the normal routine. The parking lot has been cleaned up a bit; there was no visible trash, thrown it junk, or other debris from people littering. Honestly it is the most abject display of human poverty that I have ever seen in a first world country. Really really shocking, and I have seen favellahs in Rio and ghettos in South Africa.
