We searched Yelp! and discovered First Watch, and I'm glad we did.
First Watch has only been open for about 2 - 3 months. The interior is large, with high ceilings, and wooden looking tile floors. There are tables, and a community table. I don't believe there were booths. The interior has blacks, grays, greens, tans, and whites. There is enough space to walk between tables, but a baby stroller would be tough. Music plays in the background, but the noise level is loud, so it's difficult to hear the music. Lots of windows, so it's bright and cheery inside too. Both my husband and I instantly liked the restaurant when we walked in.
The hostess stand is inside the door, with a few seats for patrons to sit at while waiting for their table. You will have to wait, as the restaurant is popular, but it's worth it.
Service is good, not too much, and not in your face either. The menu is varied, with something for everyone. The prices are comparable to other breakfast restaurants as well.
I had the traditional breakfast: bacon, eggs, potatoes, toast. It was cooked to order, and tasty. You can substitute Gluten Free bread with no upcharge, which is great! My husband had the Chickichanga, which was, "whipped eggs with spicy all-natural white-meat chicken, chorizo sausage, green chilies, Cheddar and Monterey Jack, onions and avocado rolled in a flour tortilla. Topped with Vera Cruz sauce and sour cream. Served with fresh fruit and fresh, seasoned potatoes." He said it was very good, and he would get it again.
The menu also includes omelets, salads, sandwiches, eggs benedicts, frittatas, and power bowls. One of the power bowls, the Power Breakfast Quinoa Bowls, has, "Protein-packed quinoa, Italian sausage, house-roasted Crimini mushrooms and tomatoes, kale, Parmesan and EV00. Topped with two basted cage-free eggs*." I want to try this one. There are breakfast tacos, skillets, and so many other things as well. I want to try it all, but not at the same time! The coffee was good too, and you can get a cup while waiting, at no charge!
There is a large private parking lot, which is shared by all of the other stores in the area, but there is plenty of free parking! The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch, which keeps them busy.
Good food, good service, good prices, free parking, comfortable interior.
First Watch is definitely the place to have breakfast, relax, visit with some friends. Don't "Watch," Run, to First Watch! OK, that's corny, but you get the picture! ...
Read moreMy Order: Coffee $4, (Million Dollar) Bloody Mary $9, Power Breakfast Bowl $12.
Coffee: Served hot in my own personal carafe. Rich and aromatic. Earthy, chocolatey, little to no acidity. Quite good.
Mary: Served over ice, with a piece of cold candied bacon, and poured from its own premixed bottle. Spicy-ish, sweet, sour. No taste of alcohol(not surprised as it is high quality New Amsterdam), but it's presence is felt. Rich tomato and pepper flavors, with a hint of vinegar. No horse radish that I can detect. The bacon was tasty, but floppy and cold(why?). In my opinion, not worth the 9 dollars paid. Maybe if it were a 9 or 10 dollar pitcher.
Quinoa/Sausage/Kale/Eggs(over easy)/Grilled Tomatoes and Mushrooms. No seasoning whatsoever on the quinoa, or the eggs, with a slight taste of the promised lemon vinaigrette and evoo(curse you Rachel Ray). The kale was there, tender and cooked. as were the eggs. The true stars, however, are the tomatoes and the mushrooms. Tomatoes were sweet and flavorful, not over done, but with a nice char. The mushrooms were earthy and flavorful, with a great firmness and mouth feel. The sausage was spongy and tasted as though bulk "crumbles" were bought frozen, and thawed to order. Whatever cheese was shredded over top seems a vestigial garnish. It added nothing I could detect. Perhaps incorporating with bechamel and drizzling over, with a sprinkle of nutmeg, would improve its self esteem.
All in all: with it's bustling atmosphere, prompt service, friendly staff, and interesting concept, I would return for an early cocktail(not the bloody Mary). However, the pricing of the food far outstripped it's quality. So, just drinks...
