Bicentennial Park — Attraction in Asheboro

Nice venue. Whoever booked Live Wire made the best decision. I visited specifically to see this band. They were absolutely amazing. The reasons for only 3 stars are: not enough food options for the size crowd. The lines were incredibly long. Also, the dance floor became a playground. Kids were playing tag and tackle and skating. This is not appropriate for a dance floor. I was fearful I'd be tackled for the few songs I tried to enjoy closer to the stage. And thirdly, they didn't let the band blow up their Rosie. This is one of the best parks in Asheboro. It features a bandstand, where live music is sometimes played, and there's a handsome water fountain to sit at, with a number of benches conveniently surrounding it. The location borders a freight train parking spot, which lends to the overall "Downtown Asheboro" theme of the area. Bicentennial is not really a park. It is a glorified parking lot in downtown Asheboro. This would be fine if they didn't close it down for every major festival or event in Downtown Asheboro thus eliminating all the much needed parking in the downtown area. Also home to much of the homeless population of Asheboro since the homeless shelter was shutdown.
