Parks Computers — Attraction in Asheville

I dropped my laptop off in September, 2016, they said it would be done in a couple weeks (just asked him to backup my data and wipe the harddrive). It is now January and they still have it. They have not kept any communication with me. I was calling once per week to get updates on how it was going and they told me I didn't have to and they would call me. A month went by without hearing from them so I called again, the owner contacted me to apologize for their lack of communication and said he would do everything to get it back to me ASAP. Another three weeks after that conversation they're still telling me it will be done "this afternoon" or "tomorrow" or "by the weekend"...

An entire seasons worth of work I've missed because of their lack of expertise, communication and organization. I am appalled with their lack of customer service and overall unprofessionalism. I chose Parks computers to support a local repair shop. I will never return again and will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau if things are not settled in an appropriate manner soon.

Don't waste your time and money at Parks Computers, there are many other repair shops much more worth your time and effort.

I will revise this review if my laptop is ever returned to me.

EDIT: After over 6 months I got my laptop back and it still did not work right. They wiped the entire hard drive, installed an absurd amount of spam apps that slowed my machine and changed all my basic sounds to these very strange twangy noises vs the default computer sounds. Now whenever I close my laptop and go to re-open it it will not turn back on. I let them know about this and they again took my laptop for another week. They returned it to me a week later and it worked fine for about a month. One month later and my laptop again won't turn back on if you close the lid without doing a full re-set. Parks computers ruined my laptop and lost me thousands of dollars of work in the time they kept it from me. I will not be returning and I strongly advise any future patrons avoid this place unless you have 6 months to spare to not get your machine back.

Oh, and after all of this and multiple apologies they still charged...

If there were negative stars I would give this business as many negative stars as possible. I took a friends laptop to this place over 5 months ago for a possible repair. It took over a month just to get ANY information that they had even looked at the computer. Then many more weeks after that to find out what if anything they were doing with it. After at least 3 months and several phone calls and notification that I was just going to pick the laptop up and forget it, I was convinced by Mr Parks that he had a similar laptop that he just got in that he would swap out some parts between the two and get it up and running. Fast forward another month or more.. and MY calling to find out what was going on, because he NEVER contacted me with any updates, he tells me the swap out of parts was successful, the computer is up and running and I could come pick it up. I go to pick it up, he's not there, another gentleman who was there has no idea at all where the computer was, no paperwork.. just the deer in the headlight look. I asked him to contact Mr Parks and let me know what was going on. He never did. I call again... nothing. I go back in again and demand to know what is going on. This same gentleman calls me back and tells he me has the laptop and that NOTHING actually had been done to it. NO swap out of parts, nothing. Even though I was told by the owner that it was ready to pick up and he had swapped out parts. My cost was to be 150.00 I went back after 5 plus months, picked up a still broken computer from a totally inept, unprofessional business. When I picked up the computer, I told the gentleman that I was VERY SORRY i had ever walked in the door of that place. I asked him if this was how they normally treat their customers. The only reason this place is getting one star is because there’s not an option to leave zero stars and the only thing they had going for them was that they were semi-nice. I’m going to be completely honest, if you love your PC, please don’t take it here. Spend the $200-$300 getting it fixed somewhere else or end up paying the same amount when you have to take it to another computer repair shop that actually knows what they’re doing. My boyfriend took his PC there to get fixed and Levi, who “fixed” his PC, lol DID NOT fix his PC. My boyfriend was out $200 if not more. He had dropped his PC off for it to be fixed, it was there for probably about 4ish days (including the weekend since they’re closed), Levi claimed to have fixed it, great. My boyfriend took his PC home and it hit the fan the same day it was “fixed”. My boyfriend then took his PC back and Levi then claimed to have fixed it again, and then it kept happening, kept crashing. Apparently Levi never secured the GPU and it was completely loose and it sagged; a RAM stick was also loose. As a result of my bf’s PC constantly crashing his windows became corrupted and he ended up loosing a lot of important files that would have costed him $120 to recover the files in addition to the $400 he has already put into fixing this PC. Keep in mind, this is after the fact Levi “fixed it” and this place took his money. So what exactly did this place do to fix his PC besides take his money? My boyfriend had to go to another repair shop and spend another $200+ and at least they were honest enough to tell him everything that was wrong with his PC and actually fix it this time unlike this repair shop. Save yourself the hassle and the extra $200 and go...
