Has Radical paid for reviews? I was not going to leave a review until I saw some bold faced lies here in the reviews section. This is going to be long, so please have patience.
Let me also start by saying I was VERY excited to stay here and be among the first guests. My reservation was for a double queen room on their opening weekend.
Before arriving, I reached out to the hotel to understand the parking situation, because I wanted to book an in-room massage with a local company. I was told parking was valet only, that attempting to park on the street was not recommended. When I arrived for my reservation, there was no valet. I was told that the third-party valet service hadn't started their contract yet so I needed to figure out where to park for myself. For reference, there is barely any public parking on that street and I had to circle around in my car for a while to find a place for overnight. THE HOTEL IS STILL FULLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION. There were signs of construction at every turn, from the lobby to the downstairs. THE RESTAURANTS ARE NOT OPEN YET. How did people eat/drink in a space that doesn't yet exist? That's what makes me question the validity of the reviews before mine. Even in my hotel room, instructions to call the front desk were scrawled onto a ripped piece of cardboard with magic marker, and when we attempted to call the front desk based off that sheet, it went to some personal person's number who had no affiliation with the hotel. The room was gorgeous and well put together, with Grown Alchemist products in the bathroom. However, if you're expecting a view... our double queen room just had a strip of a window about 9' or so high from the ground, and there was a privacy film over the glass that prevented you from seeing out. Hotel staff were friendly, if still a little green and nervous about their lack of amenities. They were very gracious when we asked a few minutes after check-in to leave for another hotel. I called the hotel the day before my check-in because I had been watching their social media page and was nervous that it still said "COMING SOON" when they were supposed to be open. I was assured they were in fact open and nobody took the opportunity to tell me they were only partially open and still under construction.
I am extremely disappointed in my experience at The Radical. I would have expected the hotel to call me and let me know about the lack of their amenities and preparedness to open ahead of me wasting my time by checking in, searching for parking, and unloading my luggage before I realized my weekend was about to not be the magic I expected for $500/nt. All I was offered to make up for the lack of amenities was a gift card for a local restaurant, which I was not interested in. It was supposed to be a girls weekend of room service and rooftop drinks, not... whatever we walked into.
Lastly, I signed up for an "early guests" package that was supposed to include a little gift of local treats or something in the room. There was nothing of the sort in the room.
With time, the hotel will likely be a really cool place to stay, but I don't think I'll give them my business again after my first...

We stayed on Saturday night. It was over $500 for the night and other weekends are $750 and up. Here are the negatives and positives
Starting with the negatives :
1.) staff do not wear uniforms so it’s impossible to identify them if you need something. 2.) the restaurant golden hour is terrible. We ordered a variety of items off the menu and in spite of 5 star dining prices the food was 2 star. We had the crispy greens as an appetizer and it was just something tasteless fried in cornmeal with zero flavor. I also ordered a burger that was equally as bland. The fall greens were bitter and not in a good way. The only thing that was noteworthy was the chicken skewers (3 bites of chicken for $13). 3.) roof top bar was so dark we could barely see each other- I understand this may be because they have had light pollution complaints from neighbors 4.) the smart tv was not set up in the room- I actually had to spend 25 minutes figuring out how to set up a Roku account just to get into Netflix 5.) the walls are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING in the rooms joining yours. We could hear the folks next door every time they peed and we were able to tell what movie they were watching even though their tv was not at an unreasonable volume 6.) there’s no coffee maker in the room (weirdly there is an electric kettle) 7.) the decor in the public areas is a bit silly - the gold chains hanging from the bar are supposed to be cool and edgy I guess…but it just felt like someone in their 60’s designed it trying to think of what younger folks might think was cool. (Kind of made me think they are trying to be like El cosmico in Marfa- even have their eyeball logo) 8.) the scent they have in their diffuser is nauseating- super strong and unpleasant
Positives :
1.) all staff were super friendly and welcoming. Valet, front desk, bar and restaurant staff were excellent. 2.) though we found the common area decor to be tacky the rooms themselves are gorgeous- really well done. The upholstered canopies with the soaring ceilings are gorgeous. 3.) the TV’s are massive and, once we were able to set it up for them, it’s great that you can log into Netflix and your apps. 4.) nice Brizo fixtures in the bathrooms and great smelling toiletries 5.) beds were super comfy 6.) great location in the river arts district
Maybe things will get better here- it’s a cool concept but currently the most radical thing about it are the rates, which are radically more expensive than every other lodging available...
