I visited on Tuesday, toured many other art studios in Asheville, then came back on Wednesday and drove home happy with 6 pieces of Philip's beautiful art. He shared his vision, coffee, dogs, art and time. Philip is an incredibly generous, compassionate, talented and lovely man, as is his wife, Tina, minus the man part. The plan is to install all of his pieces in a new psychology/psychiatry clinic in Durham.
As I said to Philip, "Your art makes my wounded heart smile - and yes, there is healing power in art, especially art that celebrates nature so vibrantly, simply, and poetically." I would say this is a must see studio if you decide to make your way down tot he Art District. It anchors the beginning of the district and is one of the most aesthetically pleasing studious I walked into. Both artists occupying the studio were super friendly and initiated conversation with both my wife and I. They were so easy to talk to and it felt like we were long time friends catching up.
