I’ve never been the type to the pull the race or discrimination card. But my husband happens to be white, I’m African American and we were disappointed with our experience at the Auburn, AL location. We got into the express lane where the sign said, “About 15 items.” I don’t know anyone that counts every single item before the get into a line like that. So Angel, the cashier rings us up, as we purchased beer as well. She says, “Just so you know, for the next time this line is for 15 items.” So I then said, “I’m sorry the sign said about 15 items, how many did we have?” Her response, “I don’t know but I’m telling you for the next time.” As for the beer purchase, she asked for my ID, which I had left in the car, so I asked my husband to show his. She said, “It has to be the person paying.” I said, “No problem, he can pay.” She prints the receipt and I see we had an item count of 23. But my issue is when I asked how many items we had and she said she didn’t know... then she did not have a leg to stand on to be talking to me about item count. On top of that, the lady behind us made a beer purchase and instead of asking for her ID, she asked for her date of birth. Absolutely ridiculous. We will stick with Publix going forward. Practice policy with every customer, don’t pick and choose. Also the tone of your voice, attitude, and body language are a...
Read moreIt's hard to fault this Kroger for much, but I'm such a frequent customer that a few things stand out. Since renovation, parking has tended to be iffy during normal business hours, the new self checkout software is garbage (even the employees hate it), and the night staff is not empowered to follow standard company policies. However, there's plenty good as well. Selection is always good (though on certain items at certain times you'll have trouble due to popularity), prices are competitive, and Kroger's own brands are always equal in quality (or superior) to national brands. The pharmacists are professional and will work with you on price as much as corporate allows. Meat pricing is good (pork, chicken and sausage always; ground beef usually) except steak which tends to be expensive vs. W-D and Publix.
Bottom line: predictable, solid, clean, reasonably priced, and 24 hours (SO IMPORTANT). More places need...
Read moreSo I went to Kroger late night July 1st around 1 AM with workout clothes on, no bag, no purse, damn I didn't even have pockets. I like to shop late because I take my time to read labels, so had a buggy full of items and I hear the intercom go off stating "security to isle 5" . I look up and wallah I'm the only person on isle 5. So this guy comes down the isle in a white shirt and blue pants and pretends to look at Mason jars, like really. I'm the only African American in the store by the way, shopping at night. SOOOO that just has to mean I'll be stealing right? I've never been so offended and racially profiled in my life. Kroger will not ever have to worry about me or any of my friends/family shopping in that establishment ever again. I will be posting this all over social media to inform my followers of...
