I would give zero stars if I could. I went to the mall earlier this evening (December 18, 2021) to do some Christmas shopping. I've never been into this specific Nordstrom Rack and decided to see if they had any black sneakers and potential stocking stuffers/gift ideas. I walk through the women's clothing, browse the purses, look at the small makeup area and picked out 3 mini makeup items I planned on getting as stocking stuffer gifts. I hold on to the 3 makeup items in one hand and I have my large Victoria's Secret shopping bag in my other hand, careful to keep them in separate hands. I then walk to the shoe section (I was in the store for a short period of time) looking for something particular, I'm walking down the isle that has my size and then I walk out of that isle and into the next hoping it's a second isle with more of my size available. When I turn the corner and begin to look at the shoes a tall, large, African American man security guard with a deep voice appears and tells me that I need to leave the store and not to come back under any circumstances. I told him I'm confused as I still have the only 3 makeup items I grabbed in my hand still. I told him I was just finishing looking at shoes and I was about to go pay for the makeup right after shoe shopping, that he can look through my shopping bag if he wants and he told me that he doesn't want to look in my bag, he grabbed the makeup from me and that he just wanted me to leave. He then starts walking me out of the store, embarrassing me infront of everyone over doing nothing at all but shopping in the store like anyone else. The whole way out he kept saying rude things to me like "You people should be ashamed of yourself". I kept saying I'm confused, I don't understand, you're welcome to check my bag and he refused to check it and continued to force me out while making the rude comments. I'm a small, petite woman. I had a huge shopping bag full of stuff I had just bought next door with a recipe to prove it. I had a Starbucks with me. Clearly I purchase things and I'm a paying customer. I've never had someone do this to me before. I'm appalled at the people you've chosen to hire for your security and I will be making phone calls and sharing my story online everywhere I can until how I was wrongfully treated...
Read moreI am still shaken as I write this, but I feel it’s important to share what happened to me at Nordstrom Rack, so others are aware of the unacceptable behavior I endured.
I went to the store with the simple intention of browsing and perhaps purchasing a few items. From the moment I walked in, I noticed something odd: an employee seemed to be watching my every move. At first, I tried to brush it off, thinking it was just a coincidence. But as I moved through the aisles, his presence became more and more obvious. I was followed through every section of the store, with this man keeping a close eye on me as if I were doing something wrong. I wasn’t. I was simply shopping, just like any other customer.
To make matters worse, he called the police on me. I had done nothing wrong—I was not stealing, I was not causing a disturbance, I was simply just minding my own business and shopping just like everyone else was doing there. When the officers arrived, they escorted me out of the store, and I cannot begin to express the depth of humiliation I felt in that moment. I was embarrassed beyond words, treated like a criminal in front of everyone, for absolutely no reason.
But before I left the situation escalated when, as I was about to leave, I stopped at the register to ask for the corporate phone number. I wanted to report the uncomfortable and distressing experience I had just gone through. But before I could even get the number, the same man who had been following me aggressively approached and blocked my path. He threatened me multiple times, saying that he would put his hands on me and physically throw me out of the store if I didn’t leave immediately. His words and tone were violent, and I was terrified.
I have never been so hurt and humiliated in my life. I trusted Nordstrom Rack as a reputable store, a place where I could shop peacefully and be treated with respect. Instead, I was harassed, threatened, and publicly shamed. I never thought I would have to go through something like this, and the emotional toll it has taken on me is immense.
I urge Nordstrom Rack to take immediate action. No customer should ever have to experience what I went through. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and needs to be addressed. I hope no one else has to suffer...
Read moreI originally wrote this review, giving the store only ONE STAR, thinking it was referring to the RENO NEVADA store, NOT the Auburn Washington store. The Washington, Nordstrom Rack OUTLET store is WONDERFUL!!! The employees, staff, even the security staff are ALL KIND, FRIENDLY, FUNNY, and make the visit to the store VERY PLEASURABLE. The RENO NEVADA store is opposite...VERY rude, unfriendly, non-human like individuals working in there. I had one employee who was nice who helped me with my return but the few others in the store and IN PARTICULAR 2 CASHIERS/STOCKERS WHO CONTINUED TO STARE ME DOWN as if I were an alien or stealing something, know exactly who they are(if they were to read this). They went out of their way to be rude, which is consistent with my treatment in this area. I've been a Nordstrom shopper for decades and have seen all kinds of behaviors which you simply get over...but this MEAN spirited, stare down, rudeness is really sick, and should not be tolerated. Hopefully, someone will re-read this review, and realize who these individuals are so they realize you cannot treat people this way. I am working on documenting many of my experiences I've had by folks in the Reno/Minden/Gardnerville areas, with hope of exposing the truth about an area which has reviews which are false and represent a pleasant area in which to live. Those reviews regarding stores, parks, shopping areas, are simply not true. The Reno area is fun for visiting or concerts but thats about it! Many people in these areas are NOT NICE OR FRIENDLY! And they don't like people from other states... Very unfortunate that store employees can't hide their personal views for their companies sake...
THE REMAINDER OF THIS IS FROM THE PREVIOUS REVIEW WHICH I WROTE ABOUT THE WRONG STORE... l ....Reno store brands was almost like twilight zone. One worker inside was friendly while others and customers were like zombies. How can this be inside such a lovely store, well, I firmly believe its the location. Very unpleasant experience, though they did take my boots back(if accepting returns wasnt a "Rack" store policy, these people probably wouldnt have...
