I used to love going here when I was younger; any time I had some extra money to spare, I'd go here since it was closer than the Southcenter one and I got some really awesome piercing jewelry, band tees, funkos. Unfortunately, I personally have been disappointed more and more as time goes on.
Don't get me wrong, the staff, the customer service, the store's quality in general - it's all great. Wonderful, top notch, you are unlikely to have a bad experience. So long as you know what to expect as far as actual items in the store goes.
As I got older, I put on a lot of unfortunate weight, and while I should have been more aware of the contrasts before, it was only after that I realised there's little to no clothing options for anyone with even a bit of meat on their bones. I don't think I've seen pants/skirts/etc go above a 36 waist and that's generous. I can't find any of the old band tees I loved in my size - some because the album or whatever is so old, but mostly just because the size isn't there.
That, and even though I've held out hope and gone in repeatedly since then... there just isn't as much cool stuff anymore. It's fine if you love Disney and anime, but that's like, 80% of what I'm able to find. The last time I went in, I wandered the entire store and didn't really see anything at all that wasn't on that frame of things. A small Harry Potter section, I think a tiny area for Stranger Things, but mostly just anime stuff. There were the usual staple band tees, but... yeah. I couldn't even find much by way of piercings although that's probably because my size is a weird one.
I don't know. I know most of this is a fault with the corporate company and not the store, but I also know I'd rather save some poor alternative soul a possibly long trip to a store that won't have anything for them.
Again, I love the store. The atmosphere and the employees and the overall quality is great. It's just not what it used to be as far as wares go. If you love the anime stuff though, I think you'll find no issues at all.
(Also, again, no fault of their own but I'm still so upset they discontinued the Rude XXX vests and the Jurassic World patch/pre torn...

Honestly it was so difficult picking out items as they are often out of stock of even their newly arrived items. One item came about 2 weeks later, and the rest we were told was lost after a month. We were not informed as we had to reach out first. 3 of them are being reshipped, however since one item was out of stock they refunded it. This particular item was the one I was looking most forward to and I felt sick that buying it online does not secure that you’ll get your purchase. I appreciate that the reshipped items are being shipped to our address instead but this whole experience has been a massive disappointment. Buy in store folks, the shipping fees are outrageous.
Edit (9/24/22): 1 star rating changed into 4 stars as I have been informed the lost order has now been recovered (2+ months from...
Read moreHot Topic is such an amazing store me and my best friend go their every time we had one of our birthdays coming up. It is such a nice and welcoming environment to be in after coming in so many times you kinda feel like home. Although their clothes are kinda expensive and everything in the store but their shirts and clothes last for quite a while and they feel very nice and comfortable. Especially their pants their very soft and come in multiple sizes so every one can enjoy their clothes. I also love their makeup they have very nice and high quality makeup very soft and easy to apply and also doesn't have very much fall out on your face. But their is always something a little worse than the rest is the liquid lipstick that is matte and it is sticky and if you wanna take it off you have to put alot of force into it and turn your lips red and anywhere...
