I went here with a friend and family for dinner and we were in a great mood and quite hungry when we arrived but we were uniformly disappointed with the food and drinks. I had a Cadillac margarita and I tasted my friend’s house margarita and the only difference was that mine had more tequila - both were overpowered by the taste of cheap sour mix. My sister ordered tacos and they came in those cheap taco shaped shells you buy at the grocery store in a multipack - and the shells were cold - they literally tasted like they had just come out of the box! My friend got veggie fajitas and they were pricey, and yet what arrived seemed to be pre-cut, frozen mixed vegetables. We tasted them around the table, and everyone agreed that the vegetables were surprisingly mediocre. I ordered the chicken mole and it was lacking in flavor. And I almost never dislike refried beans - but the beans were not great. But the part that stands out the most is that when we arrived we were so hungry and excited to get chips and salsa, but we quickly realized the chips had been fried in rancid oil. We complained about this and they removed the chips and came back with another serving of chips that were also rancid. When I told our server (who was quite nice) about the second bad order of chips and that I thought it was unacceptable, he said that rancid oil was an ongoing issue at the restaurant. I now see that other reviews have mentioned this. Serving rancid oil one’s restaurant patrons not the sort of issue that should be allowed to be ongoing! It’s a matter of health and safety. And after all this the dinner was quite expensive.

I’ve been here twice. The atmosphere is good, the service is pretty good. The food is ok. The first time I went I had carne asada and a margarita right before closing. There was no char on the asada, and it tasted a little bland. The margarita was ok, not as much flavoring in it as other places. The staff were friendly and the service was quite good even for being close to closing time. I liked the festive decorations outside and outdoor seating. I went again today with family. I had the chimichanga. I was disappointed that it didn’t feel/ taste like it was fried. A few others at the table said their food was a little bland. The chips and salsa were on point. They serve Pepsi products. I feel the food prices are a bit high here. Also, if you pay with a card (verses cash) they charge you an extra $2.00 The bathrooms were clean. They have bar seating, restaurant seating and outdoor seating. I think I may have had the same server as I had last time. He was very attentive and professional.

So the days of this place being as good as Azteca are apparently gone. I remember those days but sadly we are not there anymore. Now the service is very good, as is the overall atmosphere. The high priced sides are actually large enough to justify the expense. Even when they are understaffed and delayed with some service they do work and try hard. I all just can't quite make up for the lack of spices, meat and the attempts to fluff up the contents to look like a large dish. My burrito contained what would amount to half an onion and lacked much of the more expensive ingredients (rice, refried beans, sour cream, etc. - you know, expensive stuff. Ugh) The above was true for three of the four dishes we ordered, the 4th didn't have onion so I guess that's the way to avoid that as a major ingredient. If there's more onion in a chicken burrito than chicken - it's an onion burrito with chicken seasoning. When that costs over $70. It's not the value you'd hope for.

While our waiter was great, the amount of discrimination we faced here tonight was unlike anywhere we have eaten before. My wife, who happens to be taller, got sick within minutes of finishing our meal. While in the bathroom, throwing up, a male worker enter the female restroom and tells her she is not allowed in the restroom. I can only assume that it is because she is so tall that it was assumed she was a man… I’m clueless. But at that moment in time, while at her lowest, puking on the toilet, she was told to exit the only restroom she has ever used. I am livid. Does she need to show her private parts to prove what restroom she belongs in? How about her large breast? Would that allow her to use the ladies restroom? This place should be ashamed of their employees actions and I will be calling to follow up! So beware, they need proof of womanhood to use their bathroom after spending $80 on a meal that caused almost instant sickness! Maybe the health department should be paying...
