On Friday the 14th, my friend Nigeria and I, along with her 10 month old son, went into Famous Footwear. Before I proceeded to look for the shoes, I asked the manager if I could leave our bags (about 10 bags) behind the counter because they were too heavy to haul around the store. I asked the associate, whose name is Danielle, if they had any other sizes in the back as they did not have my husband’s shoe size. She told me no, so I found Nigeria in the women’s section and we then walked over towards the middle of the store and sat down to rest for a second and to tend to her son who was not feeling well from a cold. The store manager then walked over to us and started a conversation and I kinda got an unsettling vibe as if we were being watched or they were indirectly gesturing for us to leave. Her son was crying and obviously hungry, so I waited for Nigeria to finish tending to him so we could leave the store and go feed him. I stood up to get ready to leave and started walking towards the counter to collect all of our bags being that our bags were now left unattended because we left them behind the counter with the manager, who was now with us. I politely asked the manager if I could grab our bags from behind the counter, because I was ready to leave the store. As I started trying to close out the small talk, the manager spoke into her microphone saying that we were at the front and then spoke directly to us stating that she had to check our bags because the associate, Danielle, said that we had stolen a pair of shoes. The manager reluctantly checked our bags that were behind the counter the ENTIRE time we were in the store. Please keep in mind that I did not have a purse on me, only a wristlet wallet, and Nigeria had a mid size purse. I had a thin wind jacket with a tank top on that you could clearly see if anything was in there. Nigeria let her check the purse to show that there weren’t any shoes in there. We were wrongfully, and falsely accused of stealing, meanwhile no one else that was in the store with us was checked. At this point her son was hysterically crying, so Nigeria was forced to publicly breast feed him while our bags were being checked in the front of the store in front of everyone. After we were cleared of the false accusations, Danielle did not show her face, explained her reasoning behind her accusations, nor even made an attempt to apologize to us. This was honestly a humiliating and dehumanizing moment for both of us. And as much as I did not want to share this very hurtful moment with the public, I want to bring attention to this. Please share and repost to bring awareness to stop profiling and stereotyping groups...

I was searching for matching shoes left and right because it's an outlet and they have many shoes out and about, which is totally understandable. However, if it wasn't for this WONDERFUL WONDERFUL Sales Lead Maliegha, I wouldn't know what to do and probably would have left. She went above and beyond to help me and my daughter find shoes, contact different stores and so on. She definitely knows what great customer service is. If you are reading this Maliegha, I really really appreciate all of your help. You are indeed awesome and please keep up...
Read moreI recently visited the Famous Footwear Outlet and was impressed by their large selection of shoes. They have a wide variety of brands and styles to choose from, which is great if you're looking for options. However, I was disappointed to find that the prices were not on sale and were not as cheap as I had hoped for an outlet store. While the selection is excellent, be prepared to pay regular prices. Overall, it's a decent place to shop if you need a specific pair of shoes, but don't expect...
