We recently moved to Augusta, GA from Valdosta, GA. We have always bought furniture from Farmer's Furniture and after buying our first house we visited this store to purchase a new sofa. We recently sold our sectional sofa because it was too big for our new living room. We found one we really liked and make the purchase (6/26/15). I was told someone would contact me on the day it was to be delivered (7/27/15) to set up a time. I called the store that morning to find out what time the delivery truck usually runs. I was told their main truck comes around 11 AM and someone would contact me after they received their truck. I hadn't heard back so at 12:50 PM I called the store and was told their truck ran late and someone would be at my house around 2 PM. The delivery truck didn't make it to my house until after 4 PM that day. As the sofa was being brought in it snagged on the door jamb causing a tear in my new sofa. The delivery team made note of the incident and Cory took a photo with his phone. I took one as well for back up. I was told someone would contact me later that week to send Wayne out to stitch the tear.
The week went on and when I hadn't heard back I contacted the store on Wednesday 8/5/15. The young girl who answered the phone did not have any idea about the situation and told me she would need to get my phone number and have someone call me back. Shortly after that Ken from the store warehouse called me and asked me to explain the situation. I told him it should be documented but explained again what was going on. He guaranteed that the replacement sofa had been ordered and would be on the truck that Friday 8/7/15 and someone would call me to set up the delivery time.
Friday came and no phone call. I waited most of the morning to allow enough time for the main truck to arrive at the store. I called the store at 1:29 PM and Ken told me the truck had arrived and my sofa was there but they were not able to deliver it that day. I was told someone would call me the next day to set up a time. I expressed my frustration that each time I was to receive a phone call from the store no one would call and I would have to be the one to follow up. He apologized and said he would definitely call me the next day.
Cory called me at 8:49 AM Saturday the 8th to be sure someone would be home and that they would be here around lunch time. I told him that was fine and we would be home. At 9:12 AM I received a phone call from Ken stating I was their first stop that morning and they would arrive within the hour. I told him that was even better! Unfortunately, they still came around lunch time and when asked why I was told I was the first stop they apologized and said there was a miscommunication. The sofas were swapped out without incident and they apologized again for the hassle and lack of communication with the store.
This store has the worst customer service and I am sad that we could not have purchased this sofa from the Valdosta, GA location. The team in Valdosta, GA could run circles around the team in the Augusta, GA store. I understand things happen from time to time. However, when someone tells you that they will call to rectify the situation I expect to receive a phone call. This experience has been very frustrating to say the least and the people working in the store do not communicate or seem to know what is going on once the sale is complete. It seems their main focus is to sell furniture and once the customer leaves the store the relationship ends there. I will not buy another piece of furniture from this location. I will gladly wait four years when I graduate dental school and return home to buy from a store that knows what...
Read moreThis company has some unethical practices in my opinion - We just bought a second home and needed some furniture - I decided to use the 12 month "free financing" option (always good to use free money). After an extremely long process (I have gone through easier approvals buying a house and an expensive truck - they ACTUALLY called all three of my "family members not living with me" - even though I have perfect credit - how embarrassing). When checking out, the "total" they quoted me was almost 600.00 MORE than the furniture I purchased - I questioned them on the number and they said that number included the interest and assured me it would be credited "at end" if I paid on time, but they would not be sending statements or anything - I should just send monthly checks (great way to get disorganized people to accidentally miss the payment and pay the ridiculous interest charge). Doing quick math in my head, even at a high interest rate, the number still didn't seem right - when we reviewed the the financing agreement, they wanted to add a $250 charge for "insurance" in case our house burnt down and the furniture got destroyed - I was like "isn't that what I pay homeowners insurance for?" - that's actually about what four months of insurance on my ENTIRE HOUSE and it's contents cost me - and this was for one low end living room set - CRAZY. They explained that if my house burnt down, I may not give the insurance money to THEM - I'm like then I guess YOU need the insurance! That's it - paid cash for my furniture and will never shop there again... Very deceptive practices - READ THE FINE PRINT if you do the financing with these guys... If I didn't like the furniture (and it was on closeout, so a good price), I wouldn't have bothered at all. Tempted to report them to BBB. I just feel bad for the uneducated consumer that would fall for this nonsense. AND I didn't even mention the 150.00 scotch guarding they wanted to add. What a pity, because I liked the sales lady - they seemed like nice people and then whammy, tried to pull a fast one and ruined what could have been a good relationship - I have an entire house...
Read moreOn 12/12/2024 I went into Farmers Home Furniture and purchased a Full-size bed and a full-size mattress. Just one month after purchasing it the full-size mattress started to go down on the right side. I called the store to let them know what was going on with it. I went back into the store on 1/22/2024 and purchased another brand. I paid the difference for that mattress. I had to pay for another delivery fee. I paid for two delivery fees within one month. The second delivery fee should not have been on me but I paid for it Now I having a problem with the paint coming off the headboard. I emailed the manager to let him know what was going on with the headboard, He emailed me back and asked me what name and phone number were on the account. I email him back with the information. He hasn't emailed me back yet. This was over the weekend. On Monday 4/01/2024 I called the store and asked for him. I left my phone number for him to call me back. He still hasn't called me back yet. Today 4/02/2024 I called the store and asked for him. I was told he was out of the office again. I just think this is bad management. I paid for a bed that hasn't lasted three months. I'm not going to let him bully me and say that they have someone to come out and touch it up. What going to happen the next time something happens again? ...
