Caveat: I almost never leave a bad review. They can be harmful and malicious and I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt 99% of the time....BUT this review comes as an accumulation of things that have happened over a five year period. My hope is that it is seen by the store as constructive and they might address the situation. I had been a loyal customer for about five years and spent A LOT of money buying die-cast aircraft models and trains. Actually, that shouldn't make a difference when it comes to respect and politeness toward clients but I mention it because it seemed like the more I bought, the ruder certain employees would treat me. First the good. The owner, Fred, is extremely nice and I truly enjoyed my talks with him while browsing. He went out of his way to talk when he could. Jim, the die cast manager, can be moody and grumpy but in overall I enjoyed his help and our talks and his knowledge . Thank you to you both...you each get one shiny golden star. My complaint is for a very very very very rude employee who (others have complained about in the other bad reviews) on more than one occasion was as rude as you can be to a loyal customer. It truly seemed personal in the fact that the more this person got to know me, the more the person thought they could say anything they wanted. There were times when this person crossed the line and I complained to Fred but the final straw was when I recently asked for simple help and the employee said "NO....I'm busy. Seriously, no you'll have to wait, I can't help you." I needed help simply opening up a cabinet that had a train that I was on the verge of buying. Planes and trains are locked up in a cabinet and we need an employee to unlock them before we purchase...it's a two minute act and, of course, it's the only way we can buy a product we see or want. This person finally decided to help me but complaining in a big huff..."FINE I'LL DROP EVERYTHING I'M DOING AND HELP YOU!" Again, I complained to Fred and Mark (owner's son) but they didn't seem to care. I was so frustrated....is this how you treat someone who has been loyal to the store for half a decade spending tons of money on your products? I told them I would never go into the store again. And I told this employee what I felt about them. I regret getting so mad and losing my cool but I feel that an employee should never treat a customer like that. Customer services means respect...it doesn't matter how long or how much money this person spends in your store. You treat him or her with the respect they deserve. And that day was just an accumulation of many things over the years. I've never ever ever ever been anything but nice, polite, curious to learn and eager to participate in the die-cast aviation or train hobby. I went to this store like many people... for community and to find like-minded people just like many hobbyists do. I said hello when I entered and I said thank you and goodbye when I left always grateful for a discount when given. I wish it were different because I truly miss the store but I wish they weren't the only hobby store in Denver that sells die cast airplanes. Nevertheless, I order from their competitors now....I pay less....and no one treats me like crap because they...

Unfortauntely, I did my research after the sale. i should have done my research ahead of time, but I ended up getting a whopping $20 discount on what I was told was a new $420 quadcopter - come to find out it was used - missing parts and the lipo battery was faulty and dangerous enough to need to be replaced. I was so disgusted by the incident I didn't think they deserved a chance to correct it. If it had been an honest mistake I would have...these guys are scammers who happen to sell RC products, so if you don't mind mixing your own hard earned money with those two ingredients then shop here. Otherwise, just about every other shop in town is a safer place to shop or even just get advice. I wont grace the doors of any establishment that i judge does bad business - regardless of any apologies - unless it's an honest mistake. This was not the case here. Crooks are crooks and until this establishment is more careful about who they hire and quit sitting idly by and allowing them to lie to clients (especially easy targets who are new to the hobby) then consider this a big RC store with a pretty big selection and a reliable place to waste your money well...

Let’s take a break from tacos and tequila and talk about something near and dear to my husband’s heart: remote control cars. Yes, my guy is basically a part-time race car driver… just on a much smaller scale.
Colpar’s HobbyTown in Aurora has been around forever, and for good reason. It’s not one of those soulless big box stores where you wander aimlessly while avoiding eye contact with confused employees. Nope, this place is the real deal.
The staff here actually know their stuff. You walk in and boom, friendly faces, expert advice, and people who will actually help you fix or find exactly what you need without upselling you on something dumb. Whether you’re looking for parts, tools, upgrades, or just want to chat about motors and magic, they’ve got your back.
We’re so glad we stopped in and by “we,” I mean he shopped while I poked around wondering how many tiny cars a grown man really needs (answer: apparently, infinite).
If you’re into RC cars, model kits, or anything hobby-related, do yourself a favor and skip the chain stores. Support a place that supports your weird and wonderful interests. Colpar’s HobbyTown =...
