I've been to this location 2x for different reasons. Your experience will be different depending on what your going in for, you'll either get lucky and get in and get out or you'll get stuck waiting for 4-5 hours. They stop taking walk ins at 3:20pm ish and after that it's by appointment only. Reason #1- I lost my Social Security Card and needed to get a new one, but had to leave and go back because I kept forgetting the paperwork I needed to get it because they don't tell you what paperwork you need until you get there and you realize, ahh i forgot that piece of mail as my proof of address and realizing that your birth certificate doesn't count as a 2nd form of ID, but a piece of mail will be better! its understandable though. I got there the first time around noon and was there until they closed at 4pm. Reason #2- Applying for disability, I got in there and it was packed with people on the inside sitting in chairs, a lot of people were standing up against the wall, even people standing outside in the lobby where the stairs are and an area that leads to the bathroom is. They also have an elevator so its definitely friendly to the people who hurt and don't want to walk up to flights of stairs lol Anyways though since I was applying for disability there were not that many people so I took a number and found out my number was gonna be called in 2 numbers! I went in there prepared for a four hour sit down, I expected to make some new friends lol luckily I came prepared with everything I needed to finish out my disability application, which is proof of injury, photos, x-rays, MRI's, even written proof such as; proof of surgeries, letters and emails from doctors, and a signed record of my total earnings throughout my life. Just so you know what to expect if you were to go in for something like this, but I was in and out of this place in an hour and a half. I arrived there at 2pm and left at 3:30-ish. The woman who helped me was efficient, very kind, and very appreciative of me being so prepared (I keep really good documents), she was able to assist me with everything I needed, copied every document photo I gave her. Then gave me a big copy of what she made copies of as kind of a reciept. Then recommended that they just request the x-rays and MRI's and stuff to be sent to them so they don't have to take my original copies. Something else to point out is they have an area with security guards to answer questions as well as, I assume "keep the peace" in the area, it can get kind of tense sometimes especially if you see someone who just walked in get called before you. I also like how when you walk in, to get your number there are computers in the front to fill out your own personal information so they already know its you when you get up and have your number called. Sometimes they will even call out your name if your not responding to your number being called. Which is kind of nice. There is also a TV that is up in front of everyone that lets everyone know what numbers are being served and it also lets everyone know what documents to make sure they have with them, depending on what they are there for. They also sometimes will call out certain people who are there for a specific reason to be helped regardless of the number (You can decide whether thats a good thing or not lol). Parking can be a bit confusing but know all area in front of the reserved signs is fair game! The only reason i'm giving this place a 4 out of 5 stars is because this is the closest social security office to Brighton, and I have to drive at least 45 minutes to get there and back, and no matter what the traffic is horrible lol I feel like i'm going on a days journey on horseback to fetch some money assistance because i'm disabled. Just kidding but it truly is a days journey for someone like me. When your in pain, doing everything is 10x harder. So it just sucks that this place is so far away, they are also constantly doing road work no matter what route you take lol fair warning at least for 2017.

Does anyone really 'want' to have to go into a government office? No, probably not... I have visited this SSA Office in Aurora twice in the past month and I believe I will not have to go back again as all the paperwork, forms, etc. have now been submitted. Scheduling an appointment online was easy. My appointment was at 1:00 pm, SSA texted me 1 hour before with a link to use to check in when I got there on my phone - easy peasy! My number was called at 1:15 - not bad! My representative this time was 'Grace'. She was great! Knowledgeable, pleasant and thorough. Don't forget 'a birth certificate is not evidence of your 'Continued Existence'!!! Had to chuckle at that sign at the window! I feel sorry for the people that work at this office as the 'clientele here are SO rude' to the employees...English is definitely not the most spoken language here...people were yelling and cussing loudly at each other and the security guards just ignore it and sit there at their desk, vs. walking over to them and telling to zip it or get out...' I was truly appalled! My 5 stars is for the two women I dealt with behind the plexi-glass windows, they were AWESOME!

Waited 2.5 hours since over 5 phone calls could not explain why my benefits were not accessible online. No resolution at this office. Could only make a new appointment for January 2024. Meanwhile eligible for benefits since August. Now asked to return to present passport for verification of citizenship. Ridiculous after living in USA over 60 years and working full time for 45 years. Notes for anyone attempting to apply for their benefits at 62, in person... -Bring your US passport. -Diabetics, ADA health issues cannot be sitting for hours -Bring a seat cushion. -Bring headphones. -Bring snacks. -No priority for seniors or disabled. -No privacy at windows. -Waiting time is too long. Unacceptable. -Many issues can be handled online but system flawed. For example..change of address or blocked account (due to SSI not closing cases over 2 yrs old). - 21 windows. Less than half available. I'm too old with too many health issues for all this stress!! Really felt bad for several folks with oxygen and walkers. Thank goodness there was a restroom!

I have been to this office several times and have never had a bad experience.......until today. Hence the 4 star rating. First, my wait was horrible, 3 hours. I understand it is a very busy place but 3 hours is simply too long to have people with infants wait. People with children should not have to "wait their turn", they should be given priority and seen immediately. It is not fair to the children. I saw many meltdowns and felt so sad for the kids and the parents. If you have infants, you go first. Secondly, after I waited 3 plus hours, the person who reviewed my request for wage information, date stamped it, and talked to a supervisor about it, told me I had to complete another form. I was ready to pay my fee when I realized it was the same form, but the instructions were the first page and the form was the second one. I don't think they are familiar with this form, or she was very new, or the supervisor did not think to check what was on page two. Alas, I just left. I will submit it to the main Social Security office by the mail instead, along with a letter advising them that they may need some additional training on forms and to look at the "second page" and compare it to the form they have in their hand. I know they get busy and have a lot of forms to look at. I know the supervisors are busy too. However, when someone has waited 3 hours...put yourself in their shoes. I think this office needs some additional training to not just look at forms, but check to see if PAGE 2 is the same before you give it back to the person who has waited 3 hours to...

I wanted to be nice, and give them a good rating because there's some good people there, but this place is JACKED. I don't know if it's their director or what, but this place needs to get its act together!!!

So, latest interaction: A FEW WEEKS AGO I called the national line about a matter and was told that I would have to have a sit down appointment at the Aurora office, but there were no available appointments so they (the Aurora office) would have to call me. I've been waiting... No call. Was actually getting ready to call them to see what's up, when I get a call from them an hour ago, to confirm my 11:30 appointment for today! ??? I say, "I don't have an appointment, nobody ever called me back!" So she says, "Well, if you'd like to make it a phone appointment, we could do that." "NO!" I say, "I HAVE to have a sitdown appointment! I'll be there!" Sooo...OK gotta go, don't wanna try getting another one. I'm getting ready, I sit down to write this review real quick, and they literally just now, called me again to confirm my PHONE appointment today at 11:30!

This place is seriously discombobulated! They don't know if they're coming or going! And this is just the latest (and least) of the problems I've had in the last year of dealing with them. I honestly thought that government ineptitude of this level was a joke, a myth, but I was wrong. This is the place where jokes about ...
