My wife & I were so excited to experience Pisco Sour!! We were hoping to have a wonderful dining experience. We went for lunch.
The actual cocktail Pisco Sours were fantastic!! Absolutely loved them!! Super tasty & frothy. I recommend them to everyone!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The Chicha Morada was good but I don't recommend serving it with a lime wedge and dial back just a bit on the sugar. 🌟🌟🌟
The chicken soup that came with our meals was excellent!! It was so flavorful & hearty. Definitely worth ordering! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Sadly, those were the only things that were excellent. Everything else was either good, not so good or cold.
Frejol con Seco de res was good. The beans were awesome. I could've had those alone and been super happy! The seco de res left much to be desired and was cold. The flavor profile didn't quite hit the mark. 🌟🌟🌟
Pollo a la brassa was good but again, it left more to be desired. We ordered dark meat so that's where our disappointment came. It was good but the spices in the chicken didn't quite pop like we hoped. 🌟🌟🌟
Asado con arroz came out cold so it was really disappointing. The beef tasted good but the fact that they didn't include "pure" (Peruvian mashed potatoes) was a real let down. Instead they had a fried stuffed potato product with an unusual filling. Not a fan of that at all. 🌟🌟
Papa a la huancaina was ok. If you've never had it than you'll enjoy it. Being a big fan, this one came up short. 🌟🌟
Anticuchos de res was good but only 2 skewers?!?!? Come on!! There should have been more fried potato medallions as well. I love Anticuchos and this one hurt...a lot!! 🌟🌟
Now, for the major let downs.....
Lomo Saltado...the signature Peruvian dish. Everything looked brilliant!! I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into it. Sadly, the stir fry dish wasn't very good. It tasted like a cheap knock off. They used soy sauce to cook it. Very noticeable and not very good. I was so bummed after 3 bites thinking it will get bettter...it didn't. Again, first time trying it, you may love it. It wasn't authentic Limeño Lomo Saltado. I REALLY hope they change that recipe. 🌟
Lastly, my wife's absolute favorite dish in the entire world Tallarin Verde con bistek. The steak was awesome! It had the perfect char!!! Very yummy. The "green spaghetti " was flat-out bad!! Not good at all. It didn't even look good when the server was bringing it to the table. 🌟
In fairness, the menu did state a Pesto pasta. Well, if that's the case, don't call it Tallarin Verde. I'll go to Olive Garden for a better Pesto pasta. I can't picture a Peruvian trying that dish and loving it.
All of the creams or the "aji" were bland or mayonnaise heavy. 🌟
Man, what a let down. Lunch prices were great. Portion sizes were appropriate.
We noticed how dead the restaurant was for lunch. Maybe it was an anomaly. It was a Wednesday lunch after all. However, IMHO, that place would be packed if the 4 key authentic Peruvian dishes were better...
Papa a la huancaina Pollo a la brassa Lomo Saltado Tallarin Verde (this one needs to be completely redone)
The server was sweet and helpful. The ambiance was alright. There is a lot of focus on the night club side of the business.
As a Peruvian American, we were very glad we came and tried it. We would not recommend it. If we were nearby, we definitely stop in for cocktails but probably stay away from...
Read moreI invited my family to eat at Pisco Sour after seeing an ad in their facebook page saying that they had a live band perform every Saturday at no additional cost. I made a reservation for 5 people at 7:45pm because the show was going to start at 8pm. When my husband, my brother, and I got there, the waiter didnt even look for our reservation, he just took us to a table for 4 people. We said we needed 5 chairs, so they put a longer table next to ours, could've seated 10 people... This was too big so we just added another chair to the original table, thinking we'll just squeeze together. After 20 minutes I noticed my mom and step dad had already been seated at the table that should have been reserved for us. I realized that this restaurant doesn't have an organized system to take reservations. After we ordered our food, a lady came to our table and asked if we were staying for the show. I told her that that was the reason why we went. She said "ok, it will be $15 per person". I told the lady that the website said the show was free and I showed her their advertisement. I also told her that when I called to make the reservation they didn't mention they were going to charge an additional $15 per person. She gave us attitude and said that the advertisement was old, it was for a different show, not this one (which was false, it was the correct show), and we needed to decide if we were going to stay or not. We had already ordered our food and we were left thinking that they were going to kick us out. My mom went to try to talk to this lady who changed her story and then said that the $15 per person was a donation. First she demands we pay or leave, then claims it is just a donation for a charity and not mandatory? It was a trick to get more people to donate... We have nothing against donating but dont lie to get donations... We went to the owner of Pisco Sour to tell him about this scam and he wouldnt even look at us in the eyes, didnt care at all. We decided to leave the restaurant after we finished eating and before they started the performance that required paying the "$15 per person donation". Needless to say, we will not be going back to a place that collects money by deceiving customers and that can't even seat...
Read moreWent in to celebrate someone's bday and it was the worst experience imaginable. The only positive from my visit was the colombian waitress who was kind and actually tried helping. The food is bland it's almost as if they're scared of salt. For the prices of their food you'd think it would be delicious and great but it was less then mediocre it was disgusting. We had the Tallarin Verde with breaded chicken. Let me tell you that chicken was as hard as a rock seems almost as if it was frozen and then just deep fried quickly. We brought up this issue to the owner Renato Castillo and he said that he personally tried it and it was delicious that he's been cooking for 24 years so his chicken couldn't be an issue. He offered to fry it longer which would only make it worse. Only 2 bites were taken from that meal and we tried to see if we could change it for another plate off the menu but the owner said no. The craziest part is that he still charged us for that disgusting plate even though they took it away from the table after the 2 bites. One of the people I went to eat with left this restaurant without any food in their stomach. It's insane to me how high of a pedestal this owner thinks his food is at when his restaurant was empty for a Saturday night. Only one other table was occupied the whole time we were there. Explains why regardless of your party size you'll pay 20% in gratuity. The waitress tried to get our food swapped out for something else and he kept refusing. He was also a coward, instead of showing face and apologizing for the terrible food and experince he was probably in his office hiding from us. Since again he charged us for food that wasnt eaten. Honestly speaking coming from eating authentic peruvian food. This is far from it. And i mean far. From reading other reviews and seeing his responses to those reviwes he seems to always be right. That his food is delicious and perfect but its not. Save your money and cook at home or head over to The Red Llama at 8331 Willow St B, Lone Tree, CO 80124.
If he treats his customers like that imagine how he treats his workers. Maybe when hes been cooking for 25 years his food will get better...
