Update and response to the manager
Wow, bravo!! Talk about fabrication. I am not someone who complains when I know something was my fault. My phone screen should have been fixed, that was your job. I did not have any oil, or steam, or rain, or sweat, or saliva, or anything remotely close to a liquid near my phone. So, let me repeat, the DAMAGE WAS NOT DONE BY ME. What is this you are mentioning about the LCD cable??? I don't remember anything being said about that. The other company that I mentioned to you that day simply did not have a working new screen in stock, period.
Oh, and apparently you missed the sarcasm when I mentioned the phone itself was leaking. You do not need to lecture me about science and your whole "electronics and liquids" argument.
Lastly, I am not asking you to change your useless warranty policy. I am just warning customers about the experience at your shop. Have a lovely weekend. ;)
PS: The only thing about this is that I got a 6s and I don't have to deal with you ever again.
I was very disappointed with this company. It's quite simple: my phone was better off with a broken screen than with the one they replaced it with.
It's like I took $100 and threw the money in the trashcan, which right now, really hurts me financially. The day after I picked my phone up, the screen went black right after starting an update on my phone. I was not able to make it turn back on, but somehow my boss did it. I thought the problem was solved. But to my surprise it wasn't. Later that day I realized the camera was not working properly. When I tried to turn off/turn on my phone, I was never able to turn it back on ever again.
I took it back to Hi-Tech to ask, since they have a 30-day warranty... or so they say. They took my phone to the back room, and came back saying "it had a liquid" inside. Suspicious. During the last hours I had my phone, it was never near a liquid or "an oily substance." And even if it was... due to something mysterious like... condensation maybe?.... the screen should have withstood that. At least that is how my phone had always been.
But "somehow" a liquid got inside. And there was nothing they offered me; like at least part of my money back or something. They saw how frustrated I was, and still did not offer anything. There was one young guy working, who seemed to be truly sorry. But still, I expected more from this store, from their warranty, and in general from their experience as...
Read moreIt seems like this place had a lot of good reviews, so I went in trustingly and paid the $97~ due to low battery health for my old Apple Watch. I had called ahead and they told me they would need to pre-order the battery and that it would be an hour.
I arrived and then was told it would be several hours longer. Not a huge problem, but I should have realized then there are a lot of communication issues at this business.
I was told I would be called when it was done, but I decided to check on it at 4 PM (no call) and they said it was finished. I was feeling relieved, but then someone else walked in and the person behind the counter immediately ignored me and started helping the other customer instead. I understand checking in with another customer, but he completed everything with the other customer and gave him his device, before finishing with me.
When I got my watch back it was scratched. I never take it out of the case. I pointed it out to him and he said it wasn't possible because they don't put the battery in the top. (If you read other reviews, you will see this is a pattern.) I then left, but realized when I got in my car that my battery health was as low as when I gave it to them to fix it.
I had to go back to the store and show him. He hesitated and seemed worried and clicked around and walked in the back a moment, and then just said that because it is a replacement battery, it will never show updated health. If that is the case then why was this not explained up front or when I picked it up? The shop was busy on this day and I have the suspicion that they just missed my watch completely, but also are too proud to admit it and own up to their mistake.
Now, I am out $97 dollars with the same dying battery and now. a new scratch on my watch. I would say be cautious of this retailer. It sounds like they can sometimes do good work, but when they don't, they will not stand by their mistakes. I would not trust this company in the future, especially with a sensitive or...
Read moreJust want give any future customer a heads up about a few things: I used their service to replace my Apple Watch’s screen. After a few weeks of use the screen came loose. I stopped by to request a refund as I wasn’t satisfied with their service and was more comfortable taking it to Apple to fix the problem. I was very polite and patient.
After analyzing my watch, they admitted that something must have gone wrong, like someone forgot to add glue to the screen. They said they could glue it back for me, but obviously I didn’t want to set myself up for disappointment a second time and expressed I just wanted the refund and have Apple work on fixing my watch.
During this same visit they said they were going to refund me. 3 days later I ask for a status update via email to which they reply that they are not going to refund me anymore. They made it seem like I didn’t have the right to be dissatisfied with their service and thus wasn’t entitled to the refund.
I didn’t stress about it because I know my rights and I’m getting my money back. I’m here to give you some advice if you still decide to go ahead with them:
Do not make a payment via Venmo, cash or debit card. Only through a credit card since you get purchase protection for cases like this and can easily dispute the charge by contacting your bank.
Do not communicate via call, always have a written record of communication. Either via email or text. If they refuse to give you written communication. Write an email highlighting all the things discussed in person or phone and sent to them as that become a valid document in case you need to protect yourself.
Think hard about going cheap route. Sometimes it’s not worth it and I learned it the hard way.
Don’t trust 5 star ratings on Google. I also learned...
