the glass half empty or half full is a question you'll wrestle with here.

I needed a place to stay during the winter storm, so since this place served that purpose, it earns 3 stars off the bat

Half of the things here work, so maybe you can fell blessings and gratitude. Like they say at the Shia Mosque, our lives are blessings after blessings.

I propose that gratitude doesn't mean we have to accept shoddiness or we have to let people get away with doing a half hearted job.

I view this place as a step up from the bargain brands like Motel 6, so you expect to avoid some of the issues you face there. Overall, you sense the hotel lacks harmony. Overall, you sense a vibe of inconsistency.

One clerk was friendly; the other clerks were meh.

The weight room still had a sticker left over from COVID stating masks were required in common spaces. I used my common sense and decided we need not comply with that, since the COVID pandemic officially ended in May 2023 and it's January 2025 as of this writing. Also the weightroom had an inconsistent set of free weights: it had sets of 5, 10, 15, 35, 40, 45, and 50 yet no 20, no 25, no 30, and an extra single 45 as I recall. The weightroom water machine was unplugged.

The hallway computer was broke. The wifi did not work, because my phone said it had bad security. Since I needed wifi for my work, I had to go all the way to my storage unit to get a hotspot.

The water came out of the taps consistently, so that rocked. The lights worked perfectly too. The shower water was inconsistent: it was never cold, thankfully, yet it alternated between lukewarm, warm, and hot.

The refrigerator was stubborn, yet it eventually worked. The microwave was awesome, as it enabled me to enjoy things like organic beans, organic and regular stuffing, and a regular rice mix. Not a single spill or problem happened with the microwave. The central heat was very hot and consistent which was ever so needed during these cold days.

The hair dyer conked out almost immediately. The toilets were great: they have powerful suctions.

The breakfast coffee scalded my mouth the first time as they had it a little too hot. My mouth was a tad sore the day after that. The coffee was delicious. In the rooms, they give you free coffee too. I choose the decaf with the beautiful green font and it was delicious. When the housekeeping staff fixed my room, they replaced my delicious green font decaf coffee, so I appreciate that.

I enjoyed watching my favorite YouTube channels on the media screen in the rooms. The remote buttons sucked, so it required a lot of effort to push them.

The front desk gives out free Wyndham pens. A highlight of mine of visiting hotels is getting free pens

Mold in 4 rooms, dismissive management, and a pattern that’s been going on for years

At first, we didn’t think much of it. Figured the dark spots on the ceiling were dirt. But by the next morning, it was clear: it was mold. We reported it and were told there was a 3-room transfer limit. If the third room wasn’t “up to our standards,” we’d get a refund. Rooms 2 and 3 had mold too. The manager then "graciously" let us check two more rooms. Room 4 was the worst of them all, so we didn’t even bother with a fifth. Four out of four had mold. That’s not a fluke.

Then we were told we were the first people to ever complain about mold. That felt off, so we checked the reviews. Sure enough, there are at least 11or 12 reviews mentioning mold, going back YEARS. All of them got the same “we’ll look into it” response. That’s not a one-time mistake. That’s a pattern.

The way we were spoken to didn’t help. “We don’t know if any of the rooms are up to your standards” was the exact line. Like asking for a room that’s not growing spores is some kind of luxury. We had our 8-year-old with us. I stayed calm because I could see my wife getting rightfully upset. The manager admitted the mold was a health risk, but it came off like a legal formality, not an actual concern. When my wife asked to speak to someone above her, we were told she was the highest authority on-site and reminded again about the refund.

We took the refund because we had no choice. But that doesn’t erase the fact that we were put at risk, wasted hours trying to solve it ourselves, and were subtly made to feel like we were overreacting. The “nobody else has complained” line, the “your standards” remark, it felt like gaslighting. We’ve got photos. We’re also reporting this to the Board of Health. If this has been going on for years, then who knows how many people have been exposed while management keeps pretending it’s news to them.

Later on, the manager publicly described our interaction as “respectful,” like we came to some mutual understanding. She made my wife sound unreasonable in the process. Yeah, I was respectful. But I also didn’t feel respected. I was being polite to someone who treated our concern like a matter of personal preference, not health and safety.

Bottom line: mold in every room we were shown. A history of complaints. Dismissive and minimizing staff. And no actual plan to fix it. That’s not an accident. That’s the culture. Until this place gets professionally inspected and cleared, I wouldn’t stay here again, especially...

The breakfast is pretty good ✅ My bed wasn’t very comfortable Hot showers ✅ And apparently certain workers in housekeeping steal. I checked in on 8/23/2022 pretty late a night and was greeted by very kind women at the front desk. I had two separate bookings at this hotel because the king non smoking suit was unavailable for 8/24-8/26. I asked for late check out for 8/24 because I thought I wouldn’t be off work until 12:30ish which would allow me enough time to come switch rooms at this hotel. On 8/24 I called the hotel from work to let them know I would be back to switch rooms until 2:00pm they told me I could stay in the king suit for the remainder of my stay. When I came back to my room from work all of my groceries I brought to the hotel room were gone. I went to speak to the very kind African American lady at the front desk about it and she called house keeping supervisor to inquire. She told me the housekeeping sup told her they put my big bag of groceries in a closet and there was some confusion about my check out, she said they were coming to bring me the food. I waited in the lobby for about 20 mins, they never came. The front desk lady again called me over to tell me they no longer had my food. I am very upset because I bought the food for the week to avoid going out and spending money for the week. Although I love my job ,nursing can be very hard on the body and I like rest. I asked the lady what were they doing in my room because the room looked the exact same as it looked when I left the only thing missing was my food? She didn’t have an answer for me but apologized and offered me a free night at the hotel. The housekeeping stole my groceries and honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if they go into peoples room without housekeeping being requested. Loved the area it is in everything is surrounding it. My TV didn't work when I got there they suppose to have sent maintenance but they never came abs when I called back they said maintenance had left so I got a $30 discount on the room the breakfast was free but wasn't to good but other than that the people who worked there were all nice but if you stay 2 nights or more they do not offer housekeeping pool was nice and clean

I’m not one to just write bad reviews, but I’m writing this for others to be aware of the cleanliness of this hotel. After looking at reviews I clearly didn’t do my due diligence in checking reviews first. On the website, this hotel looks like a newer, nice hotel! Actually I think it was built as a nice one, they just do not maintain it at all. When we first walked in, I happened to notice the concrete out front and thought to myself, I hope this isn’t an indication of what the hotel will be like. That was a weird observation, because, no, I do not usually just check out the cleanliness of concrete, so it must have jumped out at me for a reason. When we went in to check in. The girls were friendly, but there was a sign on the counter that said they do not do housekeeping for your room unless you stay over 3 nights. Again, this made me wonder about the cleanliness. I don’t even know how to explain it, the place just already felt dirty. On the way up, the elevator was scratched up and had graffiti in it, then doors had dents or paint chips missing. At this point really starting to question our decision. The room just felt like it had a layer of funk. There was gunk on the vanity, the bathroom floor hadn’t been completely cleaned, you could just visibly see areas that had clearly not been cleaned in a very long time. We double checked the bed, it seemed to be clean, but I won’t lie, we couldn’t feel comfortable in it because everything else was so dirty! I think overall, this was built to be a nice hotel but it’s like they invest NOTHING to keep it maintained or clean. Down to minimally stocking the area to buy snacks and drinks. I’d rather stay in an older clean hotel then one that you can just feel the funk! Actually we got back to our room for the second night and just couldn’t even stay.
