I loved this restaurant so much up until Katlyn stole money from me & my friend on 9/29/23 at the Perry’s Domain location in Austin, TX. We sat down during happy hour, ordered drinks & food and when the original bill was dropped on the table, me & my friend reviewed the bill and agreed to split the original bill of $162.38. When she returned with our bill that had already charged both our cards - she charged us equally $109.74. This was $40+ difference than what she originally charged us and when we asked about it, she gaslighted us and said “I don’t know what you’re talking about and I don’t know what you ordered.” After speaking to Derrick the General Manager for a good amount of time AND he reviewed my charge to my debit account being $81.19 and my friend’s being different, he believed her (Katlyn), told us the charge would change at midnight to “what it should be” and told us we were being “loud”. I felt violated. You trust the people who take your card behind the scenes and trust they will run the correct charge or explain any charges that are not correct. Instead, it was gas lighting, blaming us & making us to believe we made things up when clearly my account shows otherwise. I will be disputing my charges. I will be calling their District Manager and I will be making sure Katlyn is held responsible because she probably has done this to other people before. She may not be the only one either as I am sure other waiters or waitresses do this at this location. Shame. Because I REALLY REALLY loved this place. Unfortunately, they hire people with theft in their background.
Food was great! Compliments to the chef always. Drinks was great! Compliments to bartenders always. I always love the Pork Chop, the beef carpaccio and the drinks. It’s sad the service was sour. We weren’t looking for anything free, we clearly could afford the bill (no issues with our cards running) and we really weren’t looking for anything but justification with our bill and a clear explanation as to why our bill was different and why my friend was charged $109 and I was charged $81 when we asked for a 50/50 split. She wasn’t nice about it. She was rude. She didn’t want to take accountability. She didn’t want to explain what happen. She just was rude and Derrick allowed it to happen. Sad.
Note: after some digging into people who work there, it seems the guy with a blue coat is NOT Derrick even though he introduced himself and gave his business card as Derrick. Again, another lie. Cool.
PS - I signed the bill because I was uncomfortable with them saying I was mistaking but I didn’t tip for a reason. Notice how she writes in though “Tip:_” on my...
Read moreTonight was our third visit to Perry’s at the Domain in the past year, and tonight was a disappointment to say the least. I’m not usually one to write a negative review, but there were some hiccups from our second visit that just got worse on our third visit, which is unfortunate because our first visit to Perry’s was great.
Tonight along with our previous visit last month, we had to wait 15-30 minutes to be seated even though we had reservations; we watched as they sat several different parties that arrived after us before us! On our previous visit and tonight when I went to inquire about our booth, they seemed annoyed and said that they were preparing our table; lo and behold they accidentally gave away our booth that we had requested both times! My husband has a bad back so I asked for a booth every time, and they were only able to accommodate us the first time.
After we were sat, our flustered server said he would get to us when he could. Much later, another server came to greet us and took our order. We ordered the bone in cowboy ribeye, fried crab asparagus, lobster Mac and cheese, and roasted corn. We had to ask for bread after our food already came out even though they brought it out promptly the first two visits.
It honestly seemed like we got less than mediocre service compared to the previous visits. I read someone else’s review that they were deceived into getting complimentary dessert to-go when in actuality they were charged for it, and that is exactly what happened to us! Please don’t be deceiving to your customers. I have worked in the restaurant industry and currently own a beauty business, so I work with the public, and I would never blatantly deceive someone and say “since it’s your anniversary, would I be able to offer you the dessert trio to-go?” They never charged us for the dessert when it was for a birthday celebration and our wedding anniversary prior.
I will definitely take my business elsewhere. My main issue is that the hostesses seem to have an attitude (maybe because they have to deal with uppity people all night?) but that is no excuse. I used to work as a hostess and server and know when I’m being BS’d! People will continue to go to Perry’s because they serve good food (although our food was a little on the saltier side tonight); however, I’ll go elsewhere in Austin to avoid feeling taken advantage of, and I still tipped 20% because I’m in the...
Read moreWhere do I begin. I've eating at Perry's several times but not at this location. I've never been so disappointed. we all got the 4 course for $44. It started with the beef and Bleu appetizer. Though it was good, it must have been cooked on the tiny food show. Never seen food so small (easier to give the full slice of bread and only give 2 pieces instead of 4 since it was the half order).
Next was the salad course. I had the chop salad. It was soggy and whatever the salad dressing was, it wasn't the best. The bacon also tasted as if it was cooked in old grease. A friend got the kale salad. It was decent. Better than the chopped salad if you like kale. Another friend had caesar. A Classic salad. It came with pumpkin seeds and anchovies on top. Not good. Just be aware of the toppings.
Next course was the main course. 2 of us had filet mignon and I had the pork chop. Only issue with the pork chop was that it was cold and salty. One of the filet mignon was cooked medium rare instead of medium. They recooked it and made it medium well. They ended up letting us have a drink the Mac and cheese for free for the issues.
Speaking of the mac and cheese. We were trying to determine what flavor cheese they used because it tasted different. It's not Mac and cheese at all. It's chicken Alfredo with no chicken!! How do you make Mac and cheese with Alfredo sauce??!!! It was terrible. Never get that. NEVER.
On to dessert. 2 had the creme brulee. That was amazing. Best thing of the night. I unfortunately had the nutty D'Angelo. They basically flambe the sauce table side. Cool. Unfortunately they don't cook the sauce long enough and it was chunky sugar and nuts on top of ice cream. The ice cream was frozen solid. Like cut with a knife solid. Terrible dish. Never get that. The creme brulee and the service is the only reason they got 2 stars instead of 1.
I was also at the bar before dinner. Had the escargot. I've had it before and it's nothing special. Only ordered because a friend never tried it. And ordered a few drinks. Our seat time was 7. We didn't sit till nearly 730. I was at the restaurant from 630-10pm.
All in all I'll probably never go back to this location again. I'll stick to dfw or Houston locations. Not sure if I want to spend $75 again for that type of food. If I ever return to Perry's it will only be for...
