I attended the Texas State Swim Meet Finals here in 2022. All in all, it was a satisfactory experience. I have two general areas about which I'd like to comment.
The meet's website had information about purchasing tickets online. It also mentioned that one could purchase them ahead of time, but didn't suggest one should. All tickets were sent electronically. 5 of our swimmer's family members drove in on Friday morning to see her compete, only to be told at the door all 5A tickets for Saturday were sold out. We were not the only potential attendees standing around outside the Jamail Swim Center ticketless and the levels of disappointment and aggravation were palpable. Our swimmer advanced to the Saturday Finals, but only 1 of the 5 family members could return for Saturday. I ordered the Saturday ticket online early on Friday afternoon. Friday evening I received an email from UIL telling me the Saturday tickets were sold out. How they emailed that information to people who didn't already have a ticket -- and, thus, no email on file for ticket purchase and sending -- I have no idea. Seemed like a pointless thing to notify ticket holders.
RECOMMENDATION: ORDER YOUR TICKET/S ONLINE AS SOON AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE. IF YOU THINK YOUR SWIMMER IS AT ALL LIKELY TO SWIM BOTH DAYS, ORDER TICKETS FOR BOTH DAYS. Even if the Saturday ticket gets wasted. . .you wouldn't want to miss the championship swim because the tickets are sold out before your swimmer even swims to qualify!
The Jamail Swim Center is not as accessible as one would expect of a building on the campus of a public university. The spectator seating inside the Jamail Swim Center is a balcony along one side of the warm-up pool and competition pool. The seats are reasonably comfortable auditorium-type seating. However, some of the stairs have some very steep individual steps. It was difficult for me to get up and down with both knees replaced. It must be nore difficult for anyone using a walker or cane. Wheelchair? Impossible! Access to and within the Swim Center involved many stairs. If there were any accommodations for guests using wheelchairs or scooters, I did not see them. The way to the diving pool appeared very narrow and was usually ocongested. There were bleachers at one end of the diving pool. Were they for spectator use? No one sat there. It appears necessary to bring binoculars if you want a good view of diving from the spectator balcony. There appeared to be only 1 men's and 1 women's restroom available to spectators on what seemed to be the "main concourse" (the level on which one entered the building.) I can't speak for the men's, but the women's had only 4 stalls and 3 handwashing sinks. This was completely inadequate for the number of users. Congestion grew worse when female swimmers used it to do their hair and make-up after their events were all done. Teenage girls take forever to do those things! Can facilities be provided...
Read moreBeautiful swimming facility on the University of Texas at Austin campus. Home of tue renown UT swim team and many olympians. Large 50 meter pool, divided into two 25 yard pools for short course events, and a diving/warm up pool. Parking is not really available on site, and close parking is limited to permit parking only. A large parking structure is a couple of blocks to the north, rates of $3-$12 depending on the length of your stay. Seats are of the hard plastic, fold-down variety, something like a movie theater seat's harder, more bitter cousin. Ok for a bit, but uncomfortable after all day. Concessions are available below the seating level, only moderately overpriced. The event viewing...

Very well lit. Been here a few times for competition.
Parking is best in garages. There is one across the street and one a little a way at the Health Science. They are paid...
