Update- I went back today since I didn't want to go all the way south to my normal club. I found dangerous structural issues with two of the squat/bar lift equipment. I brought it to the attention of the person who identified as the manager and another employee. They acted as if it was a bother to put the equipment out of use. A safety check should be part of every day. You can see in the pictures how an entire bolt is missing from the rack on one eqp and the other has a bent and improperly joined bolt holding the top frame bar and the frame body in place. Huge safety issue. I called the 888 number. PF made no attempt to even sound concerned. Went to my home club (Pleasent Valley) and sadly told the awesome manager there (Adrian) what happened and that, while I feel safety is important to him and his team there, it was clear that this is an exception and not the standard for Planet Fitness. I cancelled my contract. Original review- It feels really old and not energetic. The free weights are right next to a huge glass window. The light was hot and blinding. Not fun. Staff was busy cleaning which is good but I still saw equipment that needed repairs

First off the staff here is mostly very friendly and helpful and the price is one of the best I've seen in Austin. Unfortunatley, for me at least, they don't have 100lb weights which means the moat you can squat or leg press is about 810 lbs. There also are only 5 Smith racks and 1 leg press, so you have to time your use carefully to get time on them. Additionally, they recently replaced all the bikes. These new bikes have a different resistence, which seems higher, which ia good if you need that. They alsi have straps that can be turned over, but not removed, so you don't have to track thwm down if you want them. Unfortunatley, the new bikes are a couple of inches shorter than the old bikes. As someone who is 6'4, this means I can no longer fully extend my legs, which places a loy more stress on you knees, which is what I was using the bikes to try and avoid. Overall though, its a decent place particularly for the casual fitness buff.

No shelf in the showers for toiletries. I have to put my things on the floor including toothbrush and washcloth. I also question the logic of putting slick tile in the wet area. Most locations do this. You guys (& most all other locations) are so lucky I didn't slip when I had a knee injury. I had to inch by inch and holding onto walls make my way to the changing room. If I had reinjured my freshly out of surgery knee because of slick tile in the wet area I would've sued without question. And for the life of me I can't understand the reasoning for having high anxiety sports playing in the massage area. 😫 I've been to locations out of state and a few in the local area and all but 1 does this. Following on the go pro of a ridge line mountain biking tournament followed by cliff diving followed by skateboarding ...mmm relaxing.... On the plus side staff is amazing and super nice, the shower itself is clean, & the gym equipment is excellent

I don’t ever leave reviews but I feel like i have to because this associates attitude was not ok. I moved away and signed up for a new gym closer to me and also don’t have a vehicle so canceling my membership with planet fitness has been hard. I finally took an uber to planet fitness when i got off work to cancel my membership and get more of an understanding as to why my account was trying to double charge me. I walk in and I wait for an associate ā€œraquelā€ to come up to the front desk. She asks me what I need help with and I let her know that I would like to cancel my membership and she says ok. I’m standing there waiting for a few minutes and she explains that she’s new to it and doesn’t quite understand how to do it and I let her know that it’s ok and to take her time. She then says ā€œcan you come back another day to cancelā€ i say no because i don’t live in the area and had to uber, she says ā€œright… you wanted to uber over here at 11pm to cancel your membership..greatā€ i say yes i don’t have a vehicle and just got off work. She then explains that it might take a minute and to sit down, and i completely understood that but i nicely asked her if there were any other associates that knew how to do it, for example the one standing next to her. She says ā€œ No he doesn’t he’s also new your just going to have to sit down and be patientā€ i said i’m not impatient and that she didn’t have to be rude and i sat down. She then asks an associate that’s off the clock how to do it and she figures it out and tells him to go away, he states ā€œok let me know if you have questions or need helpā€. She lets me know that i have a balance due and i was trying to explain to her that i was already charged for it and that i was getting double charged but states ā€œit’s the holidays it probably hasn’t gone through yet you need to come back on friday and it will probably be fixedā€ but i let her know that that’s not the problem im trying to address and to just slow down and listen to me. She says ā€œyou just keep repeating yourselfā€ and i explain that i haven’t even really started, ever since i stepped in she’s been trying to push me out. I finally accept defeat and step outside for some air because i’m overwhelmed. I see her leave to i’m assuming take a break, so i go back inside to find the off clock associate that she had previously asked for help from. He comes up and says he’s happy to help and i explain from the beginning what i originally came there for and didnt even bother mentioning the other associate because i wasn’t there to tattle tail, i just wanted help. He actually goes into detail as to why there were so many complications with my account and lets me know when i could speak to a manager. I would like to thank Timothy i think his name is, for keeping a good energy and continuously greeting guests while up at the front, he was very kind to me and made me feel more relaxed in the situation. And the other off the clock associate ā€œjovanā€ i thank him so much for helping me out and being so kind and understanding . As for raquel , i have no words, front desk definitely isn’t a job for everyone. 12/30/23 11:05pm arrival time at...

The staff is extraordinarily rude. Their claim of a "Judgement Free Zone" is in fact a lie. I have recieved a lot of spam mail offers for membership. I went in this evening and walked up to the front desk to wait my turn while two people were ahead of me and a bleached blonde who called herself Destiny Furlough suddenly asked if I had a keytag in a rude tone for no apparent reason. I said I didn't have one and as I grabbed a small sized tootsie roll out of the prominently placed huge bucket sitting there she remarked rudely that I am just going to grab candy then. She then asked with a glare and disrespectful tone why I was there and I said I am getting frequent emails from them offerimg me membership deals and that I was formerly a member there for several years (with the black card deal); it will buy you some massage time but it won't buy you professionalism or respect: I can promise you that. She showed me some offers that didn't match my emails which said things like "We miss you so much, we are giving you a free month"(it had expired before I came back in my old gym for a visit). She asked if I wanted to sign up and I said maybe because the offers I had recieved didn't match plus they had automaticly withdrawn $40 from my bank account at the tail end of my last membership which the general manager of Austin said I could use toward a membership at any later date but they now claim to have no record of it. She asked if there was anything else stopping me from signing up and I said rude employees like her who are petty about a little piece of cheap candy. She then told me to leave immediately. Amazing arrogance and unprofessionalism by these people, not even a hint of an apology (I would have given a huge apology at that moment if I were in her position, some people simply do not belong anywhere in customer service). The old Austin we loved is officially gone, replaced by plastic people from classless bastions of unsouthern unhospitality like the east and west coasts. They have come to misfigure us into angry morons, their self-absorbed snappy reality TV spawn going viral all over the capital of the third coast. Help, these croutons have stolen our salad! Translation: Old Austin is no more, it is more than ever a fast food town of the least flavorful variety. And maybe it was our destiny to lose what we had as her name ironically signifies (very true story...can't make this stuff up she ordered a prospective member to leave simply for pointing out her snub on the candy). Lesson learned: if you go to Planet Fitness to either sign up for a membership or to return to resign after being coaxed back by spam don't you dare grab a cheap piece of candy from their massive bucket of candy that is the first thing you see when entering. Planet Fitness is in fact staffed by some of the greediest small minded 'Judgement Free Zone' snobs you will ever meet. Please leave our town Planet Fitness staff, you are invaders and the good honest people of this city are most famous for not liking your...

I started going to Planet Fitness in December 2024, and really appreciate the company and this location in particular.

Membership pricing

The base rate for a PF membership is incredibly affordable compared to most gyms, and the machines and free weights are great for what you pay. I signed up for the Black Membership, which for the deal I got, cost me $25 a month for a year. This gives access to all the typical machines, etc. but also allows me to go to any location, use any personal training services available, and use the massage, hydro massage, and tanning services. You really can’t beat that deal, and they’ve been running this promo for the last three months which is fantastic.

Facilities

The facilities are kept very clean, and most gym goers at this location are committed to using the spray bottles scattered across the facility. After 2020, cleanliness has become a priority in any facility for me, it’s nice to know this is important to them, too.

Equipment/Amenities

There are tons of machines here, dumbbells, and bicep bars available for use. Additionally, they have massage chairs, hydro massage recliners, and tanning beds. There are numerous free lockers, showers, and bathrooms. All of these amenities work great and are kept nice and clean. The only thing that would extra elevate the experience is more non-Smith machine squat bars, but it’s a fantastic location and that would just be an extra plus. The hydromassage recliners are definitely my personal favorite part.

Staff

The staff are so friendly and helpful! My first day using my plan, I needed some assistance figuring out how to book the massage chairs. The staff member I asked walked me through how it all worked, and made nice recommendations as well. The rest of the staff has been very friendly since - I even bonded with one front desk member who saw my Astros sweatshirt and we bonded over our Houston roots. I always feel welcome here.

Atmosphere

I love PF’s commitment to keeping the gym ā€œreal.ā€ I don’t feel embarrassed to be here or pressure to fit in with a gym rat style crowd. There’s a range of folks at this location so I don’t feel like I need to be some body builder to belong here, and everyone is generally polite and minds their own business. I have never been approached here to get hit on, which I’ve actually never experienced at a gym, and I think that’s really nice. I feel safe and comfortable being here amongst my peers.

Security

I feel pretty confident leaving my stuff in the lockers, but they have options for locked boxes as needed. The lockers accommodate most standard locks if you feel the need to bring them.

Overall

I really love this gym and recommend it. For the price and what you get out of it, it really...
