I had a great experience here. Shortly after I got to the island I stopped by to see if they had anything available. At the time they didn't. They were very upfront about it though and let me know that they only take cash so I was able to use an ATM to prepare. There are several ATMs on the island, and the one I used is about a 2 minute walk from the stand, so I'm not sure what some of these negative reviews are about. I was considering renting from the other place since they're priced the same but decided I would go eat before choosing. I just got good vibes from this place. By the time I got back they had carts available so I went ahead and did it. They offer a special where you can buy 2 hours and get the third free. I was going to do that but by the time I got there it was too late, which was okay, especially because my departure boat left within the next three hours anyway. It's a 1 hour minimum, not a 2-hour minimum. You pay $110 up front for the first hour and a deposit. If you come back before 2 hours they give you back some money. They refunded me $20 when I came back. I'm not military but they did offer a discount for those who are. I'm not sure how much it is.
They were really nice in my opinion. They also give you a paper map and a rundown of the scenic route, as well as the places you have to stay out of. Got a little confused and got turned around a few times but thankfully there were signs everywhere indicating the routing. I didn't have good cell service but my location still worked enough to help me out when I got turned around. I very highly recommend renting a golf cart because the views were breathtaking and like nothing I've ever seen. Even for just one person I felt like it was reasonably priced, but if you had multiple people and split it would be really cheap. Drive the entire route. You will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile the other main golf cart rental (same hourly rate) requires a minimum of two hours of rental, this place will charge you for two but give you back a dollar for each minute you don't use over an hour. We made the entire loop in one hour with a couple photo stops and greatly appreciated only having to pay $60 over the $120 we would have been charged at the other location.
Two things to keep in are that you can't reserve carts (will have to wait in line) and you have to pay in cash. Rush to this place as soon as you can so you don't have to wait as long in line.
This would have been a 5-star review, but we had a really miserable customer service experience with one employee. A female employee (who was very nice) "checked us in" and then said we could stand off to the side with another couple who had similarly done so while we waited for carts to return. Once a golf cart came in, a male employee started filling in paperwork for the couple behind us and told them the cart would be theirs. We told him that we were actually there first but he berated us for not "standing in line" despite being told by another employee to wait to the side.
This employee REFUSED to let us go ahead and kept blaming us instead of rectifying it with the other employee. In the end, we only ended up waiting 5 minutes longer (had already been waiting 20-25 minutes though) but his demeanour was incredibly unprofessional and frustrating to deal with. There's no reason the customer should be blamed for an organizational mistake...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe rented a 4 seat cart for 2 hours and asked if we could have it longer if we wanted and the staff was very accommodating with that, just give them a call to let them know (the 3rd hour was not free despite other reviews). It was cash only up front for the first 2 hours ($120) and since this is the first business you come to from the boat make sure to have it on you before you get there, you wouldn't want to loose your place searching down an ATM. Although there was one right down the street and scattered around town, alot of them were down and we had a hard time on this trip finding one operational. The scenic route was mapped and well marked along the way with many places to stop for photo ops. I recommend 2 hours to not have to rush through it. I'm not a golf cart officiano but it seemed to run and stop fine. I wasn't expecting race car performance but It was fully loaded with 4 adults and our bags dealing with some pretty demanding hills and we never had to get out or push. As others have stated, get there early on a busy day, by 11am they were gone. One service I wish they offered was daily/overnight rentals, neither rental agency does. It would have been nice to get our bags to our accommodations, do some food shopping, wait for the morning marine layer burnoff, then take our time around town. Most places are within walking distance so it wasn't anything more than a...
