I came in at 4 for a rash all over my body it’s 11 and no pain meds or anxiety meds now they want to transfer me to Kendall because there is. No dermatologist here really it’s 11 and I’m still in the ER. Do many closer to me then Kendall and why can’t they just get a dermatologist here. I take care of my 91 year old mom it’s unbelievable they are sending me to Kendall when I live in Hallandale Beach. But add a new wing for rehabilitation. This is unbelievable and I’m shocked. I finally left at 1am going home.
EVERYONE MAKE SURE WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO AVENTURA HOSPITAL THAT YHEY HAVE DOCTORS YOU NEED.
On Saturday my 93 year old mom was in the ER at 10:09 am it took awhile to get her to a bed in the ER bed 38. Unfortunately they gave her a warm blanket that was stained to top it all off she had to go to the bathroom the nurse put something for her to pee and it would be sucked up cause the nurse couldn’t be bothered to take her to the bathroom. Mom was screaming to take her things off to go to the bathroom I was trying not to yell but I told her I couldn’t do it it had to be a nurse I’m in the hallway crying asking for a nurse to come to help to no avail. The nurse assigned to her kept ignoring me yes I yelled for a nurse well then comes Janelle Wright yelling at me that she will remove me from the ER yet the room 39 was screaming for a doctor but she did nothing about that other people were yelling for help but I was signaled out. I was in shock and was totally disrespected by her. She needs to know how to talk to someone my mom was yelling for at least 1/2 an hour to be taken to the bathroom. We were finally discharged st 3:30 they said she had a UTI but never gave her an iv of fluids that’s how this hospital takes care of the elderly very disrespectful and y forgivable. To be told her daughter and caregiver to call security and be removed what is that. I’m so disappointed and very disappointed. I will take a longer ride to Memorial Hospital instead of going through this and it’s not the 1st time this has happened to get the 6th floor is horrible nobody helps
To top it all off I had surgery on my hand and couldn’t help her and to top that they put in her discharge paperwork she was being seen by Cystisis when she actually went in cause she was dizzy and couldn’t move.
Very heartbreaking that this is how you treat the elderly actually e everyone
On 2/21 I was taken to the ER from a fall I was there about 5 well I was there until 11 pm when they found a room.
Now I’m in room 710 waiting for an MRI since the emergency said I needed that but here in the room a neurologist at 4:30am came in asked me questions then said he was going to put in the paperwork for an MRI here it’s 1:30pm and still waiting they keep giving me excuses that their were emergencies ok I accept that but I’m still waiting with no response this is unsatisfactory and unacceptable. They know I’m a caregiver to my 93 year old mom and I’ve been in this hospital almost 24 hours how do you do this to patients. You already messed up my mom a couple of times . This use to be a great hospital but now forget it no one listens to you the always make up excuses to try to calm you down and make you think their working on it. It’s unfortunate how this hospital is I would rather drive to Memorial Hospital then come here and I’m still waiting...
Read moreWas admitted here for six days after being hit by a car, guess I had a co-payment of 100$ and was never informed of it, they didn't tell me, call, send an mail, email absolutely nothing about the bill. They just sent the bill to collection instead without ever notifying me of a bill. They claimed I have no address or phone number on file for them to contact me. That's strange because I was there for 6 days, they have my insurance information, Florida iD that has my address on it. I recalled giving them all my information but for some reason they didn't have anyway way to contact me about the bill and sent it straight to collection. There's so many other reasons why I left a one star but i would need a 45 minutes documentary to tell the full story of how bad this place is because it's way more than just billing..... I was hit by a car, these people discharged me without checking my left knee which was preventing me from walking, I told them I can't feel my left knee or put any weight on it at all when they brought a physical therapy to show me how to walk. I explained I have trouble moving that left knee and cannot put weight on it. They then checked the X-ray and told me nothing is broken and it will heal just give it time. They gave me a walker because I could not stand at all without the walker, but they never did an MRI to find out what's wrong with my left knee. They told me that there was no fractures so it will heal itself with time, but exactly what is it tho???? They don't know for sure because no MRI was done to the knee. I was bed ridden for a month and wasn't able to properly walk for the next 4 months and needed physical therapy to help me walk normal again. To this day there no telling what happened to that left knee and I can still feel something clicking back and forth when I walk to this day, even tho I can walk normal now with no pain anymore after physical therapy, I still feel this weird clicking in the knee not too worried about that clicking feeling tho but...... To make things even worse, my discharge paper has no info about my knee ever being injured.....absolutely "NOTHING" about my left knee being injured at all on those discharge paper. After violently being struck by a car and was air lifted to the hospital, My left wrist was the only part of my lower body that was documented as being injured on those discharge papers no other part of the lower body was reported injured. I'm lucky that my injuries wasn't any worse thank god, but my wrist wasn't the only part of my lower body that was injured the left knee was injured too, it's as if my knee was perfectly fine with no problem at all when you look at my discharge papers because nothing was documented about that knee. No treatment, no MRI, no documents for that left knee, only a walker and a solid good-bye was given for that left knee. Maybe if I was an basketball player in the NBA they would have get to the bottom of what's wrong with that knee but since I'm not they just told me "it"....."it" it will heal with time. But what is "it" does "it" has a name? I never heard of an injury being named or lable as "it".... But if you don't do an MRI I guess "it" is the best name you can give "it" and no info on discharge paper about "it" needed too.....only at Aventura...
Read moreOn Wednesday, July 9, 2025, I was referred to the ER at HCA Westside Hospital by urgent care due to severe pain caused by a fish bone stuck in my throat. Upon arrival around 2:30 PM, I paid my copay and was immediately subjected to blood work, despite clearly stating that my issue was localized to the throat. When I asked why blood work was necessary, I was told it was ordered by the doctor—with no further explanation.
The doctor attempted to examine my throat but couldn’t locate the bone visually, so a CT scan was ordered. I was surprised that a simple X-ray wasn’t considered first, especially given the unnecessary radiation and cost involved. The scan results took a long time, and I remained in pain throughout. Around 6:30 PM, the doctor returned to confirm that the bone was visible in the scan. However, since there was no ENT specialist available on-site (surprising for a hospital of this size), I was told I would be transferred to their sister hospital, HCA Aventura.
I expressed concern about being taken in an ambulance, as I did not feel that my condition warranted it. I was told I could leave against medical advice if I didn’t comply, which felt coercive. I was also informed that the ENT would attend to me upon arrival and that I would need to stay overnight after the procedure—so, reluctantly, I agreed.
At Aventura, I had to pay another copay and undergo yet another round of blood work—this time because it was a different hospital. This duplication was frustrating, both medically and financially. My pain remained unaddressed, and no actual treatment for the bone was offered. I was told the ENT would arrive soon, but then informed it might be the next morning. I was not allowed to eat or drink due to the lodged bone, but no active intervention was made. After repeatedly asking, I was finally given water, a small amount of food, and some IV medication. I was moved to a room around 11:30 PM, and saline was started at 2:30 AM, though still nothing was being done for the actual problem.
By morning, the pain and discomfort had slightly improved. A hospital doctor asked if I thought I had swallowed the bone. He said the ENT would perform an internal exam and, if no bone was found, I would be discharged. However, I was told the ENT could arrive anytime within a 24-hour window—something that had not been mentioned at the first hospital before transferring me. This lack of transparency was deeply frustrating.
Eventually, I was allowed to eat. However, another round of blood was drawn for unclear reasons. The saline drip continued, even though I was eating and drinking normally, and it was painful. Later, I was told the ENT wouldn’t come until the following day. At this point, after missing two days of work and seeing no progress, I requested discharge. Soon after, I was informed that the ENT had approved my release since I was now able to eat and drink. In the end, the bone passed on its own.
What I endured felt like a cascade of mismanagement, poor communication, and unnecessary procedures—all while my actual issue remained untreated. I’m left with copays from two hospitals, repeated and questionable blood draws, and the anticipation of large bills for a problem that resolved without any direct...
