Super Wings — Attraction in Avon

We have been in here twice on visits to Avon in December and May, this retail establishment is conveniently located on Highway 12. Super Wings is a huge run of the mill souvenir shop. Customer service is mostly non-existent, but nobody was rude either.

One of the best deals here is probably the 3 for $10 t-shirts for sale! The quality of the t's is average, but they make for a nice souvenir.

I also spotted hats, higher quality t-shirts and a LOT of apparel. I do like that they sell swimwear here, this part of OBX is desolate, so if you forgot your suit the other option is a 60 minute ride up to Walmart. The swimwear prices were not cheap, but I would not describe them as ridiculous either.

Beach chairs and towels are also for sale, price was about average. In addition to that, I spotted a lot of beach toys, cups, mugs, bumper stickers, taffy and more.

It's worth a browse if you are looking for an inexpensive memento to bring home...

If I could rate this store ZERO STARS, I would. Let me set the scene, After a long relaxing vacation at OBX, the last thing we wanted to do before going home was visit Super Wings to buy some fun souvenirs. What we were met with was in fact an adorable tank top… BUT when I reached for the tank top that I was looking to gift to someone was a giant ugly COCKROACH. I was absolutely appalled. When I told the cashier working behind the counter all he did was shake his head and say, “ i’m so sorry about that”. There was no urgency to find and get rid of the cockroach. He never even asked where the roach was. I know for a FACT, that the cockroach is still in that store. My family and I were disgusted, Absolutely NEVER visiting that Super Wings EVER again. I hope this establishment is happy that they lost...

This place seems to carry all souvenirs outterbanks. They have gift items, t-shirts, hoodies, hats, Activewear, beach equipment, decorations. The prices are not bad either. They have many promotions on going for 2x24 or 2x30 on many clothing items. It's a great place to either buy gifts for the entire family without breaking bank or if you forgot your beach equipment or cooler! Many of the items were generic though, like the same bags or hats or even tshirts made abroad which are just labeled with OBX and stamped with a since 19xxx year. I wouldn't say it's all authentic material however it's definitely worth the visit. You never know, you may find something.
