Avon Fishing Pier — Attraction in North Carolina

I had awful experiences at the pier. First we bought some concert tickets which was from 7:30-10. Only we had to wait in line 30 mind to get in and over 45 mins for our first drink and then another 30 for the second. By the time we got our second drink the concert was almost over. Then we rented some poles to do some fishing the next day. Had a nice time fishing but when we were getting ready to leave a group of locals sitting behind the counter started mocking my son and I for thinking we could bring the poles we rented to the beach to fish. Kind of deceiving when they tell you that you can rent the pole for the entire day. Other places you rent poles from let you take them with you for the day. My husband Leonard wanted to go to Avon fishing pier and fish one more time before he was not able to go on trips any more, so we went and he bought a rod and reel and the guy working fixed it for him to fish with and gave him some bait and let him fish that day. I want to thank him for everything that he did for my husband that day. He had such a great time fishing, after he caught 4 fish he was really tired and was ready to go but he was happy and got to do one of the things that he wanted to before he got sicker. Good location to fish for some drum or whitings (sea mullet). Cost to fish for the day is $12 per person or to sightsee $1. If you’re a visitor trying to fish near the end of the pier, be prepared for fishermen to not be so friendly. Local fishermen have been a bit spotty at the pier and over crowd. If you do catch any sized fish, there are a couple drop nets available for use near both ends of the pier. There are washing stations throughout the pier and if you need anything, the shop should have some a couple items to assist.
