The one star I'm giving this mall is because of the owners. I go to a card store there to play in tournaments and games and I take my kids there as well. The other day I was told by one of the card stores that they are going to have to adjust their hours because they received a new rule from the management department. A lot of stores stay open past the mall closing because they hold events and card tournaments. Nothing too late usually till about 10/11 and it's been like this for years. But now all of a sudden it's a problem we were told that anybody there past Mall hours would be charged with trespassing and be fined $200 I think that's what the guy said so even if the store closes at 10:00 if anybody is there even 5 minutes after they would be fined $200 and would be considered trespassing. That is such bullshit the only reason you're afloat is because of hobby lobby, burlington, Ross the gaming stores are there, and now the new AR gaming store. Trying to make money by renting store space out to medical facilities it's just you trying to stay afloat. I used to work there in my twenties and there were so many awesome stores there this place is going downhill and from what I've heard from even some of the people in the little shops is that y'all hike up everybody's rent yet do nothing to accommodate your tenants. You're literally shut off the AC to the mall on days where it's 90 to 100°. Y'all didn't want to fix the escalators that y'all literally removed the escalators the one by the food court was completely operational after being rebuilt but I guess you don't want to pay the electric bill to have both of them running so you have one running only. Why do you think some of the little shops that have closed down and some of the events that y'all used to run have moved to Rolling Oaks Mall and even Ingram Mall. Your security is a joke cuz I've walked past your security office many times and there's no security in the office are there Security in there but your monitors for your cameras are turned off and if they are on your security people are just staring at their phones. I hope the owner sees this post because from what I heard from a few of the tenants in the little shops the lady manager of the mall is on a power trip she wants to pretend she has big boy pants on. But what she's really going to do is cost y'all money. I used to work for the city and just walking around that mall do I have so many violations regarding safety your elevator every 3 months breaks down you've had elderly people that couldn't get to the restroom or get to a certain level because you wouldn't want to fix the elevator for 6 months and your answer to that was there's an elevator out in the parking lot by Burlington you try being a 70 year old elderly person trying to wear themselves in the wheelchair to that elevator which is downhill. And I was there today for the event that was going on y'all had the AC off and also the handicap button for people in wheelchairs to open the doors to get up to the parking lot in the garage was broken we had to hold the door open for three people in wheelchairs. I really hope the owners and the balcony Heights owners see this post because they need new management at that location not someone who's going to be on a power trip and you'll still haven't replaced the door in the men's restroom that's the...
Read moreI would like to do a retake on a review I did of this place previously. While the mall retains most of its decor and appearance from 1987, it's actually worth visiting especially if you're new in town and wanting to look around. It's also a great place for the nostalgic value which its probably best known for. While not a very busy or prosperous mall like other ones in town such as Rivercenter or Ingram, I still think this place has its quirks and is pretty calm. Not to mention but this place has great vendors within the Little Shops section of the place which acts as a small indoor flea market. The food vendors here are pretty good and offers some variety, especially the chinese restaurant that's been here since the mall first opened up.
I can however point out 2 things that probably bother me the most is the amount of flags placed throughout the mall which kinda doesn't make alot of sense if you ask me. The other would be the whole "Palm Pavilion" area which kinda makes you think there should be some palm trees around. I don't know if the signage for it should stay or go, but definitely some palm trees would fit nicely in this place.
To sum it up, this mall is at least worth visiting especially for the free events that are hosted every so often. Also you can't deny that the smell of this place is so unique, it brings...
Read moreA nice and clean little mall with it's own uniqueness. The mall doesn't have a lot of name brand clothing shops or vendors selling perfumes down each turn. Instead it's a small mall with a Ross, Burlington, Hobby Lobby, A Spirit Store (during Halloween) and number of small private run shops selling a lot of cool random items. One of my favorites is a horror shop that sells nothing but Horror Movie merch or a comic book shop selling all the latest comics and cool action figures. It's a nice place for a collector. Many people use the mall as a place to walk, there are also a number of small restaurants. A Pizza Place, Chinese Restaurant & 50s themed Restaurant to name a few. It also has a small theater inside playing the latest films and foreign films. Another unique feature about this mall is on certain days out of the week they play free family movies outside by the fountain and everyone gathers around a huge outdoor projector screen with lawn chairs. There are also several conventions throughout the year with different themes, (Horror Con around Halloween, Santa Claus Party around Christmas) to name a few. They are free to enter and filled with vendors, performers and special guests. Other nights they might have concerts outside or art shows and...
