I could say so much on behalf of this teaching hospital. I couldn't refrain from being brief because it's a lot. This hospital is superb and no wonder why they are leading the way in transplants! Their standards of quality of care, safety, and respect cannot go without mention!! As a recent inpatient, I must highlight their genuine efforts to lift your spirits with every encounter, from every level of staff. I've never experienced anything like it in all my years of being sick being admitted to various hospitals in hopes that I would get a transplant from my journey from NC to Maryland over the past 4 years. They are awesome by all measures. The leaders of the hospital must really understand what it means to encompass being a progressive, inspiring, intellectual, and embracing environment. Especially one in which to receive patient care services. And, in particular, as it pertains to the Transplant, GI, & Surgical Teams. They appeared to embrace diversity, be team players, be compassionate, and provided a nice healing & positive environment.

My husband is currently in the ER at the World Class The John Hopkins Hospital. Needless to say, we are highly disappointed in the operations of the ER department in which our current wait time has been over 19 hours & counting!! This is completely unacceptable and totally ridiculous considering the fact that my husband is in pain but has to sit completely uncomfortably with an IV in his arm for this long period of time!! We were told that no beds were available for the doctor to even see patients which is mind blowing. I am NOT impressed with the business operations of this hospital and they must do better!!

A former Johns Hopkins Hospital food service worker says he was retaliated against and later fired after complaining to managers about broken appliances and unsanitary conditions in the aging kitchen where he worked. It’s likely the same kitchen where, earlier this year, hospital safety monitors discovered problems so serious they put the prestigious East Baltimore medical center’s accreditation at risk.

It was very important that I provide feedback regarding my stay at Johns Hopkins.  Let me start by saying my soon to be daughter in law referred me to Dr. Chowdhury with the GI dept. for my UC.  On 1/8/21 I had a video visit with Dr. Chowdhury, she requested I have labs done.  On Monday morning she called and asked that I go to Johns Hopkins to be admitted immediately based on my bloodwork.  I arrived around 4:30pm, upon arrival they took a Covid swab and found out I also had Covid.  I was in the emergency room surprisingly for a very short time, maybe an hour tops and then I was admitted to my room on the Covid floor.  My treatment went from a UC treatment to a Covid treatment then once the doctors felt comfortable, they provided me with a new infusion drug similar to remicade for my UC treatment.  I want to let you know that I'm so grateful to Dr. Chowdhury and told her as much, that she probably saved my life by having me come to the hospital when she did.  The GI Dept. was amazing throughout my whole time I was there and I was very thankful for that.  I had at least two GI doctors checking in on me daily.  I know I was a topic of the GI department regarding my UC in combination with my Covid.  That made me feel very confident that I was being well taken care of and truly in the best hands possible.  I was so grateful to be there with brilliant minds handling my situation.  I also dealt with Dr. Bodnar who was the first one to see me, he was great and communicated with Dr. Valda-Toro who was my family contact.  I appreciated the communication with my family and his care.  I was also treated by Dr. "M" and she was simply amazing.  She took great care of me and would make her rounds each day but would also call with updates.  Dr. Chowdhury was also checking in on me by phone. Regarding the nurses, I have many favorites.  Let me start with Kira, she was amazing and I very much appreciated having her as a nurse.  Amy was great also, she was rotating and not normally on that floor from what I understand.  Lauren from Alabama, I can't say enough of wonderful things about her and Michael was so on top of his game!  He was very thorough.  Angie was also wonderful, she wasn't a nurse but maybe a tech!  I loved all my nurses and techs, they provided me such great care and were wonderful.  Even the sweet girl that came in to take my trash would always say Hi Mrs. White and we'd chit chat while she grabbed my trash.  I always enjoyed seeing her and her friendly smile.  I was in the hospital way too long so these nurses, doctors, technicians and even the housekeepers were like my family during the stay.  I hope to do something for these nurses and techs on the Covid floor for taking care of me and I plan to call to see what I can do. Thank you again to Johns Hopkins Hospital, I truly had the best care I could possibly receive and I've been to other hospitals before and you definitely exceeded my expectations!!! Lastly, I was pretty impressed with the food at Johns Hopkins.  I definitely had some favorites, the stir fry and the quesadillas were delicious, I had the tuna sandwich almost every day for lunch and it was great.  I've had hospital food, on previous visits to other hospitals and was always disappointed.  The food at Johns Hopkins was a pleasant surprise.  Thank you again for making my stay a pleasant one when I could not have visits from my family members.  It was a good experience under the circumstances. Thank you...

With no exaggeration, I can truly say...,thus far ,JH Hospital has got " to have the kindest, most informative and helpful employees, from the valet attendant, to the front desk, the echo center tech's to the care I received even being wheeled back to my car, (thank you so much Mrs Margo, ) The empathy I'v received was from staff,.. Drs. Wow,heres the issue! it's there way or,...way." after 7hr drive for the 6th time.. no questions answered, walked out on myself and husband, after Having us drive 7 hrs, with the idea it needed to be done quickly, even if your in the hole, because you have been to sick to work, and all you want is 'Help.. . To get a Dr (Dr. Resar) who claimed, you'll be meeting surgeons and talking of what we can do.. then, Dr. Conte" the big "kahunna" walked in ,called out Dr. Resar, came back in, said your not needing further care, our responce ..shocked, ,we both were, literally, no answers no referrals & here I went several times ( they received there payment from my insurance, and not Medicaid,) hoping for a new lease on life, and the knowledge of this large but beautiful facility,it seems, I was lucky enough to what.. become more ill, sad but true, but at least was seen ,not here, but at another hospital. would say, No".. this hospital has great tech's , nurses, and customer service.. but was blown off By the Drs. ..BTW, I did need surgery and they ignored any questions and made a assumption of my health ..on what, I taught for yrs. I was educated, did all I could, on my own.. I know my body, and after dealing with heart conditions most of my life,(but if you are, as myself almost 50, look younger, dont appear sick enough, I have liver issues as well and all I was told was, you should not sunbathe so much, I'm irish, freckles, but darker skin, couldn't possibly be another reason.. I haven't sunbathed in yrs by the way") I knew eventually ,repairs would be needed, is it right, to allow a human to have irreversible damage because of ??? Thank you to all at the " Zayered Tower" for whom were so kind. But I wouldn't recommend this place unless your that particular Drs. Patient . For if not, you may find yourself with labeling, and no Dr. At all, not Until either worsening or death. Do your research and question anything you feel uncomfortable with. Also, That's what they get paid for.. not a 2 min. Consult where your Insurance pays outrageous prices ,you pay a huge copay, and walk out, in my case ,wheeled and crutched out.. with the feeling of helplessness, and the arrogance of that Dr. Who not knowing a thing of you, has the audacity to make judgement call based on ,no history... is all here bad, I'm sure not, but again, be sure who your seeing, do they have your history, know what test you had or need and are they overwhelmed with to many patients to give you that attention or thinking of the next patient waiting, rush, rush, rush, For Time" is money, and the Hippocratic Oath," Do no Harm ' ..may had been lost to them, along time ago.. sorry for the length of this., but I dont want another patient to go thru, what I'v experienced' Thankyou, and good luck, hope you know who your seeing, & always get a 2nd opinion, " it may...

My husband has graves eye disease and went for a second surgery at Wilmer eye institute last month. Although he is happy with his doctor and feels his eyes are improving I want to share my experiences. First of all we live 4 hours away so driving into Baltimore is a challenge and I would hope that scheduling would have taken that into account but NO. Since we would not be informed of what time the surgery would be until the night prior we drove up to Baltimore the day before and checked into a hotel. My husband made the eye institute, doctor and scheduling aware that since they would not give us a time we would have to come a day early but would like the earliest time possible since we had to drive back home after surgery. When the scheduling called the night prior they called our home phone not our cell phone which is obviously a problem since we were not home. After not receiving a call on our cell phone as promised my husband was able to get a hold of someone whom informed us to be at the eye institute at 11:30. We were hoping for an earlier time given we had to drive 4 hours after surgery. Again they obviously do not take the patients proximity to the facility in account. We checked into the eye institute surgery center , we’re told to wear our mask at all time, do not eat or drink in the facility and do not talk on your cell phones in the wait area. At one point the receptionist yelled at a elder man for answering a call while he was in the waiting area which was totally ridiculous because not only was it unprofessional but she was on her cell phone constantly discussing her personal business. My husband was finally taken to prep holding after waiting an hour. I was allowed to go sit with him. He was not taken into surgery until 2:45 so they were over 3 hours behind. During my long-long wait I had to keep my mask on and could not eat or drink but literally the entire time the staff sat at their desk ,which is in full view, eating, drinking and taking personal phone calls. They obviously did not wear their mask while eating but demanded we keep our mask on. I witnessed several staff enter the facility without mask and when reminded by the receptionist they just laughed it off. My husband finally came out of surgery at 4 pm. I got a call at 4:15 pm by a nurse or surgery staff told my husband did well , would be in recovery for 30 more minutes. She attempted to give me post operative instructions over the phone which was very hard to understand because the noise and her thick accent. I do not know why they could not give face to face updates and instructions. I NEVER heard from the doctor which is totally unacceptable! My husband said he did take to him but he couldn’t remember what was said because he was still coming out of anesthesia. At shift change the 4 pm gentleman that came sat at the wait room desk eating potato chips and let the phone ring and ring. Luckily around 4:30-4:45 I got another call to bring my car around to pick up my husband. I was very disappointed in the lack of professionalism, lack of respect and...
