My wife and I had our initial experience at Cape Gun Works when we decided we wanted to get our Licenses To Carry a few months back.
John and Kathy, who taught the Saturday am class were fantastic. Many of the people in the class like myself had at least a little experience around firearms but some, like my wife, did not. They made everyone feel comfortable and did a great job teaching the basics of handgun safety as well as how to handle a handgun. An added bonus for taking the Couple's Class was Kathy explaining some of the major advantages for women when carrying.
We returned a month or so later for a Friday Date Night so we could do our live fire required by our town, which totally makes sense to me as I can't imagine issuing someone an LTC or any other gun license to someone who's never fired a gun. Matt, who along with Alex conduct the Friday Date Night Class are fantastic.
Matt does the opening 10 minute safety class you attend before moving to the range. He is very informative, especially helpful for those with little experience and he makes it very clear that this is fun but serious business and no BS will be tolerated at Cape Gun Works and that safety is number one. I believe you will find this very comforting, especially if you are new to shooting.
Alex, who does more once you're inside the range area, excels at helping you feel comfortable handling the handguns you get to fire and was great showing my wife and I the differences between the different pistols they had on the range that night. Both do a superb job moving between the couples, helping you with the little things most beginners aren't even aware of like grip, trigger pull and stance. Matt's simple suggestion to my wife about her stance went from she could barely hit the target to eventually a bullseye! She was so excited!
We went back the other night for Date Night and again Alex and Matt were there. They helped us getting our Live Fire Certificates after we had gone through our box of ammunition and with their help, both my wife and I are improving. Plus, we had a great time.
Shooting is great fun and many people who don't like guns don't like them because they've never fired one or been around them so they get nervous. Cape Gun Works is a GREAT place to go where everyone we have had contact with has been very professional and wants to promote shooting and gun safety.
Thanks to everyone we've interacted with. I can't recommend them enough and my wife and I look forward to continuing our new hobby together and being customers of...
Read more…First the good….they have an amazing online store with the ability to obtain a HUGE selection of firearms most other MA gun stores cannot. I purchased a firearm through their online site and got an email right away stating they would send me a email when it was ready for pick up as it was shipping directly from the distributor. 2 weeks go by I gave them a call they said they have no tracking “it shows up when it shows up” seemed legit so me not wanting to be annoying wait for the email that never came until I called again 5 weeks after the purchase and “yup it’s ready for pick up” (I got no email or phone call) good thing I called back! Their pricing is higher than average which I was okay with when I saw how beautiful the store was and how nice all the employees were that comes at a cost that I am okay with. So I got my new rifle drove 2 hours back home and went to shoot…. Well I cycled about 100 rounds through using different brands of ammunition with different magazines and well about 4 bullets shot out of the rifle successfully. VERY DISAPPOINTED now of course they did not make this rifle and I am going to be reaching out today in hopes they will resolve the defective rifle hassle free! I will update this review following the way this store handles this matter. UPDATE so I brought the gun back which their gun smith said he was gonna test fire it at the range to see what’s going on “shot 25 rounds no malfunctions” sweet so I went home and hit the range…. Same issue every other round a malfunction… brought to my local gun smith he diagnosed a bent firing pin and jacked up locking pin swapped them out for free because he felt bad he was embarrassed for cape gun works he had all these issues diagnosed and fixed within 10 minutes …. He also noticed the hand rail was twisted and not aligned properly which he also fixed… this is clearly all manufacture issues but very disappointed the gun smith at cape gun works didn’t look into my matter deeper as I drove two hours one way to bring it back which I made them aware of. My business will be going to Mass fire arms in holliston Massachusetts!!! Competent gun smiths who fixed my gun free of charge after cape gun works failed miserably to fix the gun I purchased from them. The gun was a BM9 made by BRIGADE stay...
Read moreI had an initial day of let downs at the Works. I went in to purchase a hand gun. After finding what I wanted, I filled out all my paperwork, and background check paperwork, only to find out I had to run home for my ID #. I flew home to Yarmouth and back, making it to the door at 5:56pm. Only to find the door locked. Disappointed, I headed home with my head down. I returned the next day to finish up paperwork and pick up my pistol, only to discover that the wrong gun had been put in the wrong box. So I was charged less than what the gun was. I owed money. Well, I had spent the rest of my money assuming I was all paid up. A 10 minute stop to pick up my pistol turned into an hour event. They had to find the right case, match everything up, re-run the check with the right serial #, and figure out what the differnce in price is. I was starting to think I was leaving empty handed. That's when EVERYTHING turned around. First off, the right case was way better than the wrong case. It had all these extras in it. Secondly, and most important, they gave me a discount on the gun for the hassle and stress of it all. Which only added about $40 to the total. I was able to scrounge that up and pay for the pistol. After a day and a half of frustration and anticipation, I left with a pistol in hand and a smile on my face. All thanks to the staff at Cape Gun Works. Thank you for taking the time to work with me and working with me with the price. They made sure I was leaving with...
